BBK intake manifold?

Excuse me? First of all, who the hell is even talking to you? In case you can't see, I'm in the middle of a conversation which is producing valuable information that's going to help me very soon. I search on this site ALL day long so don't tell me to do a search because that **** is getting played out. I'm asking a simple question of which rocker arm he prefers or if he has any suggestions on which way to go. If you don't have any input, then move on to the next thread smokey. :rolleyes:

I stand corrected about the 70mm TB opening on the cobra intake. I was under the impression it was closer to 65mm before.
The stock rockers aren't a bad setup for stock heads. You can go to a roller rocker but I would hold off on some warmed over stock heads. If you ever do get new heads in the future with stud mounts you will have to get new rockers again. People talk about freeing up hp but for the typical street machine you are not going to notice much of a difference if any. 200+ dollars could be spent better elseware I think.

What's also funny, is the fact that I keep hearing about how replacing the valvetrain won't give me any gains. Two things:

1) I'm NOT replacing the valvetrain to add hp. I'm replacing the valve train b/c I want to KNOW what I have in there as opposed to not knowing how old or how worn everything is right now. ALSO, I am KEEPING the E7s b/c I want to build my car around them, so new heads are not in the near future. PLUS, money is not an option for me, I can spend graciously if need be. :nice:

2) All the feedback I get on this here forum leads me to believe upgrading a valvetrain renders useless results. I find that hard to believe when the master mechanic friend of mine (thank God I know him) is constantly telling me how much horsepower will be freed up do to less friction in the valvetrain.

It just doesn't make sense why it wouldn't yield any worthwhile gains. It doesn't matter though, b/c I'm doing it to strengthen the top end, not b/c I think I will gain 100 hp.

****, if I wanted to gain a significant amount of horsepower, I would just buy $200 dollars worth of NOS stickers. :D

there's a lot of truth in what he's saying here. although typically i say any roller rocker is better than stock (aside from a few chit brands), you won't feel any significant performance gains off of a set of roller rockers on an otherwise stock motor. on the flip side though, it is less wear and tear on your valvetrain so regardless there is benefit from them. I have crane 1.7's on my car, i like them. comp pro magnums are supposively the way to go but i've never used them. they look pretty bullet proof though. and as far as what intake flows best, check out these flow charts. i believe they were taken off of tmoss' website.

the gt40 intake "family" (explorer, cobra, gt40) flow just as good if not better than MOST intakes up to 5k. pretty interesting stuff, check it out.

people's idea of what "stock" is varies. your car's not "stock" but most people consider anything short of aftermarket h/c/i or forced induction stock. i consider my car to be mostly stock. i just got every little bolt on you can think of :). lol. like i said, it definitely wouldn't hurt to get a set of roller's at this point, if you can dish the cash for em, i say go for it. i'm just saying it's not an absolute necessity. and i have e7's with ford racing/crane pedestal mount 1.7s and stock valve covers.

lol the edelbrock RPM 2 and holley systemmax 2 BLOW the TFS and cobra intakes out of the water. Except for the TFS 351 R intake which is pretty nice.

edit- the tfs track heat and cobra intakes are still good intakes though just depends on your combo, im running the TFS track heat but id rather have an RPM 2 honestly.
