Wait a minute....TIME OUT again (how many do I have left? ). I thought the unanimous vote on this thread was that the SSI wasn't a very good intake?

well, i wouldn't say crap, but, do a search on here in talk, there have been many discussions about this intake. a lot of complaints about how the fuel rail setup is and that it causes leaks. none of this is from personal experience, just going off of what i've heard on here. on the same threads there's been some praise, though. so yeah, just do a search and read a little about them.

25hp lol...
Forgive me but I was asuming(from my earlier post that you pointed out) that as most mustang people here are budget minded and looking for the best bang for the buck options. Thus we drive mustangs. Looking at your sig there are some staple budget upgrades which would lead anybody here to believe this was the case.
For roller rockers in your case I would look into some 1.7 cobra rockers. They seemed to work well on the cobra. Roller rockers really shine for cams with high lift and high RPM appications. Roller rockers free up probably 1-2 percent of your power.

lol staple budget upgrades I like that......

Good looking out, except for I bought this car last year as it sits right now. Now that I've found a phenomenal job since last summer, I'm just now looking to do some mildly serious modifications.

And in case we've forgotten, I'll RE-state that I'm not re-doing the top end for hp, I'm doing it to refresh or strenthen the engine for my own peace of mind. One of my lifters is tapping so I took it upon myself to upgrade the valvetrain, that's it. Anyway, everybody's help has been much appreciated thus far.

So you're suggesting the Cobra 1.7s? These don't come with the 1993 Cobra in stock form do they?

.444 of lift with 1.6 ratio

cam lift
.444 / 1.6 = .277

new spec with 1.7 rocker rockers
.277 * 1.7 = .470

I would just get a dual pattern cam like .500 on the intake side and a little more on the exhaust such as .510 or something like that and stick with the stock 1.6 rocker ratio.

Now, just in case I have a problem with the rockers hitting the valve covers, I've heard it's a good idea to put on the Cobra VCs.

However, I'm looking on Summit Racing and it says that the Cobra valve covers are stock height. Does that mean that I should save my money and just use my stock valve covers again or will the Cobras still work better?

the crane's i have are the cobra 1.7s. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=FMS-M-6564-A50&autoview=sku i know they came on the 94/95 cobra's, not as sure about the 93's. i THINK so though. for me it was a toss up between those and the pro mags http://www.compperformancegroupstor...=CC&Product_Code=PMROCKER&Category_Code=ROCKR . i went crane because they were free. kinda. anyways, i think the difference between the cobra valve covers and regular fox valve covers is the cobra valve cover is raised slightly where the filler neck/baffle is so they clear the rockers. i'd save the money and use the stock ones. i've seen the cobra valve covers pretty cheap on ebay though. i almost got a set when i was rebuilding my motor but decided to save my money.

Dude...I think the "black" Cobra valve covers and the "black" Cobra manifold would look ****ing awesome! I'm probably going to order the VCs just because of how good it would look in the long run. I mean, they're only $109.

If anyone has any pics with the Cobra valve covers and Cobra intake, I would be much obliged to have a glance at 'em.

That's what I'm going to do. I just ordered the valve covers along w the intake and mini starter. So far I've racked up a $748.71 bill in 24 hrs. and I haven't even ordered the valvetrain yet.

I will DEFINITELY post pics of the new Cobra valve covers and Cobra intake within the next week to week and a half.

hell yeah man, definitely a good choice. where'd you order from? when you paint the intake, use a high temp paint and clear. i painted the intake on my car, turned out GREAT and has yet to fade/chip/peel, aside from where my A/C hose rubs it.

Ok......so my valve covers have been pulled off. There are already roller rockers in my valvetrain, but apparently there is some scarring on a few of them and some have been slightly knocking against my valve covers.

Is it a good idea to replace them anyway?

is the scarring on the fulcrum or tip? or just on the body of the rocker arm? what kind are they? it depends on how damaged they are. pics would be helpful. you might be able to use them again, just clearance the valve covers. get some pics of the damage if you can.

I believe it's just on the top of the arm, but I haven't seen them yet. It's out in the country at my mechanic's house. I just asked him what he would do and he said he would put the Cobra VCs on and just re-use them. He thinks they might already be Comp Pro Magnum's, but he hasn't found any numbers on them yet. So we're probably going to put in some hardened 1-piece rods and some new lifters. He said my springs are aftermarket and probably were installed with the Comp cam that I have. So, the way I see it: I already have 1.7 rr's (Comp), aftermarket springs (probably Comp), and obviously the Comp camshaft.

So I will be replacing all the dry rotted hoses, match-porting the Cobra intake and installing it, obviously replacing all the gaskets, putting on better valve covers, installing a high-torque mini-starter, putting in new rods and lifters, and NOW he's suggesting I put in a 7-quart oil pan b/c my current 5 quart is bent and looks like ****. Apparently, the guy who built the car originally used an assload of silicone to get it to stay sealed tightly.

My buddy also tells me that having two extra quarts of reserve oil is extremely benficial to the engine.

I trust him! So I will abide by what he says!
