BBK Performance SSI Intake

I recently bought a BBK SSI Intake and installed it and I was suppose to gain more hp and instead I lost just over a 1 second in the quarter mile and 10mph. I want to know if anyone else has bought this intake and has had problems. My car also runs hot now, between 200 - 210. I have installed a 180 thermastat. My gas milage is better ha ha.
 
lol I have that intake and I didnt lose any power. I dont see why you would lose that much must not match well. The BBK SSI intake I was not impressed with on motor but when I SC it those intakes make GREAT NUMBERS

as soon as i get to it i'll own laod the time slips. before ordering i contacted bbk and told them what i was working with, they said it would all go together pretty good.
 
I know you don't want to hear this but I'm gonna say that you did something wrong during the install, or there is something wrong with something else in your car. There is no way you should lose performance like that by upgrading from the stock intake.

I think the BBK SSI is setup for a higher power band and sucks at lower rpm. the only dyno chart I could find on line started at 4000 rpm. I bet a lower rpm intake would rock for them.
 
This looks like the perfect thread for me. Did you guys have these problems too? I just emaild this to BBK for help but real world experience it better.

I am in the process of assembling and installing your 5001 SSI intake manifold on my 89 GT mustang. Ive got some problems and questions I hope you can help with.
1 The (2) upper intake locater dowel pins are missing.
2 I have the 1706 pressure regulator. In its mounting position on the fuel rail, Theres absolutely no room to hookup a pressure gauge because the port on the regulator is facing the inside of the inake. Also the vacuum line port is on top and it makes contact with the manifold.
3 I read online about fuel leak problems from the crossover tube and they suggest doubling the O rings on the crossover tube but there doesnt seem to be enough room on the end of the crossover tube and the fit is pretty tight with double O rings, does BBK recomend this as a fix for leaks?
4 the fuel rail end cap on the front driver side seems poorly designed and might be prone to leaks where a threaded plug wouldve been perfect. Should I be concerned.

the intake is a very good set up as far as the design,even though i have problems with it. bbk them selfs are very help full too as far as missing parts and tech gose too. i have no oil or fuel leaks from the intake what so ever.
i spoke with a ford master mechanic today about my problem and was told that my cam is to small do to the flow of air coming into the motor also sense I have no cats there is no back pressure to hold the air into the cylnders long enough to make it effective. Even though I am already running an F Cam and I should upgrade to atleast 24lb injectors with a larger fuel pump.
There is no need in double up the O rings on crossover tube. Fuel rail caps on drivers side is holding good. I see no reason to be concern, just be sure that everything matches, Thats were I made my mistake. Summit has very good techs as far as heading you in the right directon as far as you need.
 
Your mechanic is wrong on more than one scenario there. Namely, the "too much air" comment and "not enough backpressure"...

Something was incorrectly replaced during the install.

Check vacuum lines, timing, plug wires, etc.

I have checked all vacuum lines, there one off prior going to the track. I fixed that, all plug wires are brand new, I just installed MSd 8.5 wires, new plugs, new cap and rotar, new thermastat.
Just got off the phone with Summit Racing they to are telling me fuel ratio is probably unbalanced, and that I need a bigger cam and larger injectors (and a good set of heads,lol)
 
When I ordered mine they sent me 2 fuel rails that went ot the same side I was mad as hell I had to send it back to california from North Carolina. Takes 5 businesses days to get there and another 5 to get back and i had a problem with the crossover tube leaking too. If you get the o-rings in there flush it wont leak

If you ask me they ar all wrong I have seen some people make big numbers still running the stock cam. 24lbs injectors wouldnt hurt but that is still not going to make you LOSE power.19s would limit your power but not lose it. See when you put that intake on more air is going to flow but the MAF sensor will pick that up and account for that in fuel. That intake shouldnt make anyone lose power on a stock motor. Your setup is fine I dont care what they say. You need to make sure there is no defects in the intake. Cracks or anything like that. In my case my gasket between the upper and lower kept breaking and would cause it to suck air (vaccum leak) well when I took it to the track that way (WITH THE VACCUM LEAK) I ran a 8.03 then I took it home fixed te air leak and took it back the next week and I couldnt go no faster than a 8.3 so when it ran leaner I ran faster but I have cam, TB, injectors, heads, RR, and etc. There is something wrong with your intake or you did something wrong installing it

Comp has an excellent tech line for cam requests. I always call them
myself and they ask me the questons about what the car will be used for,
racing, street driving, towing, etc.... I've never been dissapointed by
