I'd like to see your exact list of parts before saying anything. We need to know everything. MAF/TB/heads/cam/tranny/rear gears/block... everything. You may simply have a classic case of some badly mismatched parts here. Bigger (especially intake manifold ports) isn't always better. If you have the stock heads then 19 pound injectors should be fine.

I aint braggin sucka lol I thought it was ****ty intake when I first got it and seen the power it was making. But when I got the SC put on there my tq numbers climbed FAST so I decided I would keep it. I have tried that intake on motor and it sucks and I have tried it on nitrous and it sucks but sc works well

He is right....and I dont care what BBK says they are just trying to cover their own ass. That intake would work well with stock heads and stock cam.....I have seen people go into mid 300s rwhp with a stock cam and I ma sure you can prolly go higher. Something isnt right with the intake not your engine....unless you messed with your engine and ****ed it up some how

Ive got the BBK intake on my 345 hp Ford racing GT40 crate motor ! Love it over the Trickflow trackheat i had on it ! More bottom end power !The only issues i had was the upper hit my water tubes on the passanger side had to bend them a little ! I would get a spacer that goes between the upper & lower from summit to fix that issue .I didnt know they made one till after i was done . And i had a fuel leak to on the crossover tube and sanded the spacers down a little on the fuelrail mounts to make the orings seal when you tighten the mounting bolts !

Your mechanic is wrong on more than one scenario there. Namely, the "too much air" comment and "not enough backpressure"...

Something was incorrectly replaced during the install.

Check vacuum lines, timing, plug wires, etc.

I talked to a friend on mine today & he said the same thing that it sounds like a vaccuum leak. & i told him i've checked & rechecked everything. He told me to pull the plugs. If theres oil on any of the threads of the spark plugs then i have an internal vacuum leak. so i pulled the plugs, cylinders 3 & 4 have oil on the threads. this means i have to pull the intake & check it for squareness. thats why i lost so much power.

I recommend ARP intake manifold studs instead of bolts, the manifold will sit a lot more square when you install it

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

changed intake gaskets yesterday and found that one of the tabs on the head gasket got bent durning first install, thats where the vacuum leak came from, now car has more powere.
what i dont understand is why the cam sounds more pronouced when all i changed was the gasket. sounds really good though! will be taking it to the track this friday to see what i gain.

Friggin fuel leak

Just got my call all together. Among other problems like it just wont start. GUESS WHAT, installed the thing just like BBK says to and the crossover tube still leaks gas. And its got to be the tightest designed thing around. Its nearly impossible to fit everything around it. Took 3-4 hours just to get everything right so it would go all the way down onto the lower manifold.

So back apart it comes again. Dont know what the heck im gonna do about the fuel leak since its installed to specks. Made sure that it was because of all the problems I heard about. Maybe Ill try sanding down the spacers like the other guy said. But it was already pretty tight on the O rings the way it is.

Im gonna do a seperate thread about the stupid trick flow parts.

I had problems too about mine leaking. What I did is before you put the spacers between the manifold and the fuel rail push the fuel rail together with the crossover tube and make sure all your injectors are all the way down if they are not it will be just a little cockeyed and it will leak. then slide the spacers in and it shouldnt leak. Also put some grease around the o-rings (just a little) to get them to slide in easy and make SURE that you dont rip them. They are REALLLLLY easy to rip and you will never get them to seal if you rip them

It almost seems as if the BBK intake has too many fitment issues. I almost bought one until the experts on this forum convinced me to stick with the Cobra. And let me tell ya, I am NOT dissappointed.

So where did you end up timing it to? 10 is factory. Im pretty sure we tried the full range on the distributor. it could be that it flooded before we got it timed so thats why it didnt start. i doubt it will be that easy tho. Thanks!

maybe your timing is off by a tooth this happen to me durning the second install.if you press the two fuel rails together with some auto silicone on the o-rings they should slide together tightly with no problem and not leak i have no leaks at all on mine.
the heater hose line is a little funny , i install an elbow in my intake then ran rubber heater hoses in place of the stock setup this gave me alot more room. now i did have to takke a little off the egr for it to fit,but other then that didnt have any problems

With my car on motor (before the supercharger) I was running 16 degrees of timing. Now I am running 10 degrees with the supercharger and that intkae makes GOOOD pwer numbers
