maybe your timing is off by a tooth this happen to me durning the second install.if you press the two fuel rails together with some auto silicone on the o-rings they should slide together tightly with no problem and not leak i have no leaks at all on mine.
the heater hose line is a little funny , i install an elbow in my intake then ran rubber heater hoses in place of the stock setup this gave me alot more room. now i did have to takke a little off the egr for it to fit,but other then that didnt have any problems
I dont know why i didnt compare before but just for fun im gonna see how impossible it would be to use the stock fuel rails. Even if i get the thing to seal, Im still gonna be checking for gas in the manifold valley everytime I get out of the car. What a PITA!
That is if I get the thing to run. The fact that it started and ran 3 times for about 30 seconds with my foot on the gas, should mean its timed close enuf to adjust. Its just gotta be. I really needed to sleep last night. Tonight I will be back at it.
the stock fuel rails wont fit with the SSI because the stock pressure regulator and the relocated EGR are in the same space.
the crossover tube was not going straight into the rail whwere it was leaking, needed to turn the tube until is was going straight in. we'll see if it still leaks. i would really like to be one of the "havent had a problem since..." guys. theres a lot of things about this that still seem like a weak design tho. the way the crossover tube seals. clearance issues all over. the machining is off so not everything lines up perfectly. they couldve changed the shape in minor ways to make it so much easier to install.
will see how it goes now with the tube straight. stay tuned!
if my wife did this right this is a picture of the nipple/elbow i used to reroute the heater hoses that seem to hold the upper intake up and gives so much clearance problems hope this helps.
so using some kind of fitting you just replaced the coolant pipes with rubber hoses? a wider shot would be more helpfull. but yeah if the hardware was available thats a good idea. those pipes suck.
thats what did durning the seconf install, start hard run as long as i gave it gas then die. timing was off a tooth. as for the stock fuel rails i'm not sure. car runs really good now.
ok, so i shaved 1 or 2/16 off the fuel rail spacers, put RTV on the O rings to solve the fuel leak problem. Timing is not a problem because I reset to TDC and the mark i made on the distributor before dismantleing is dead on. and once again, she started 3-5 times. idled realy crappy and surged and then wouldnt start again. so from friend suggestions its either need the IAC spacer or prob with the MAF which is a PRO-M calibrated MAF.
Im gonna order an IAC spacer just to see if that will fix it. and the fuel gauge wouldnt go lower than 34lbs. So WTF? Any ideas?

Well your fuel pressure shouldnt go below 34. Sounds like you could have a gasket leak(vaccum leak) somewhere did you check those good. MAF could have something to do with it. What size injectors are you running? sometimes with my injectors the car wont crank unless you hold the gas pedal to the floor. but thats with 42s dont think you will have that problem with 19s or 24s. I would check the MAF and clean the sensor. Also inplug your IAC when it is idling and see if it makes a difference
Get a spacer that goes between the the upper & lower from summit & your problem will be solved with your pipe clearance !As long as you dont have hood clearance problems !
i didnt use a spacer between the two manifolds and still cant use the stock hood. i have a 4 inch cowl hood on for now but it wont pass inspection so im still going to have to buy another hood. plus my way works just as good as the spaceras fsr as clearance is concerned and alot less exspensive.
