Beers Of Stangnet

Picked up a Sam Adams Summer Sampler 12-pack just now:

There's two of each beer pictured as well as two of their regular Boston Lagers in the pack. I'm currently trying the Tropic Of Yuzu. Slightly bitter with a very, very slight hint of sourness in there. I mainly picked this up for the Berliner Weisse and the Hefeweizen...I wish they'd sell the Hefeweizen by itself!

I thought about posting this in The Rant Thread, but I think it fits here better...

What sayeth the gallery- What kinds of beer are paired the best with a good steak? For me, brown ale or darker. A good heffeweisen, porter, Guinness, etc. Right?

So why is it when I go to Lonestar Steak House, the closest beer they have on tap is Sam Adams Boston Lager?! ALL the rest on tap are light beers or fruity/shandy/hard cider crap??!! :nonono:

I really do like their steaks there, but they HAVE TO get a decent drink on tap to go with them. :fuss:
They have Newcastle Brown Ale in bottles, so that's what I went with.

Beer is similar to wine, the more flavorful the food, the darker and stronger the drink with it.

Cigars are the same.

I'm not sure about illegal substances though.....

Trying something new with something old.

First, the beer is Founders Dirty Bastard. My go to beer when I'm not sure what to get.

Now the additive. I love asparagus. I was at walmart buying my usual allotment of pickles and olives when I noticed pickled asparagus. I bought it.

So now, we combine the two for the ultimate redneck cocktail. IMG_3224.webp
I'm bohemian, so I loved pickled stuff, from olives, eggs to pigs feet........hummmmm.....pigs feet and beer:owned:

@Davedacarpainter, that sounds like an interesting concoction you've got there! How'd it turn out? Seeing that made me think of this one drink my one uncle mixes up...he pours a glass of tomato juice, and then adds a can of beer to it (usually Budweiser). I've never tried it myself, but it doesn't seem that appealing.

Anyway...a few to add to my stock this weekend:

Had a cookout this past Saturday and one of our guests brought me a 6-pack of each of these. Dominion Oak Barrel Stout and Flying Dog Double Dog Double IPA. The Oak Barrel Stout is about like any other stout, though it seems a little lighter in flavor to me than what I'd expect. The Double IPA comes in at 11.5% and boy does it show! Not only does it have some extra hoppiness to it, the extra ABV comes through as well.

Another guest brought over another 12-pack of the aforementioned Sam Adams Summer Sampler and left it behind for me. So right now, I've got quite a fridge full of beer. C'mon over guys!

Again, I like pickled stuff, so it was good to me.

I'm a fan of big beers, though the double IPA craze is a little tough for me. I like hops and what they add to our beers, but i'm more of a malty guy. So stouts, barley wines, etc....are my general choices.

Honestly though, someone gives me a beer? I'll try it and say I like it with the hopes they'll give me more!

I'm not free, but a beer is a solid downpayment.

Yeah, I'm not crazy about even regular IPAs....they're just too bitter for my liking...but like you said, if given to me, I won't turn it away!

I once did a brake job for a 6-pack. :)

What would you call that... a "Bloody Adolphus?!" (As opposed to a Bloody Mary.)

I noticed we don't have an "after" report of the Asparag-Beer... Beeragus?

Sure there's an after report. It was good to me. I showed the knuckleheads in the fox section how I put olives in my beer and you'd think I just killed someone.

Then there was the time I put a couple strips of freshly cooked bacon in my beer, they whined about that too.

I must be too sophisticated for that crowd:zombie:.
