Before/After Window trim

The rubber trim between the window and the door on my car was very deteriorated and was needed of replacement. i found two old foxbody doors behind my girlfriend's dad's garage and he sais I could take what I wanted from them. So I took the trim off which was like new and used it to replace my old, faded, hail-chipped, hard trim that was on my car.

I found it fairly easy to do the swap. Took me about 20 min in total. Sorry for the crappy pic quality. I took them with my phone. Yes I know my car is filthy lol.

wow. Phone pic quality is getting amazing. Anyway, very nice job. Looks much better. Clean trim can really make a car look much better

There was no need to take the mirror off, but you probably know that now. haha... Here are some pics of when I re did mine. Just some sand paper, some time, and some trim paint and they look new....

Looks great.... I've been planning on doing mine soon. Any tips on removing the trim?

Wish I could paint everything off the car, but the black part of my window frame needs repainting too... so I guess I'll have to mask off the entire car...

Yep. I used Duplicolor Black trim paint. It matched everything perfectly. If you use regular black paint, it will be really glossy, or too flat depending on what type you get. The trim paint matches good.

Yah, *bump* for more info too. Only time I painted my trim it still seemed to have some "pock" marks in it and came out kind of rough. That trim looks great. Give us more info! Thanks

I jsut painted my roof trim (above doors), looks SWEET!!!
Its just one screw (near front) and then you just pull it off, now i just need to paint the mirrors...

MY QUESTION:
HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE MIRRORS???

my weather striping isn't that horrible but my car is currently at the shop getting repainted and i think a new paint job will make them stick out worse... is it worth buying all new weather stripping from somewhere like 50resto, or just sanding and painting them?

you have weather stripping confused with the door moldings. Weather stripping is the rubbery/foam stuff in the door jams. the moldings are the plastic pieces. if yours are just faded, repaint them. If they are all cracked or chipped, you should get new ones. i wouldnt go to a parts place, just go to the junkyard.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE MIRRORS???

Mirror Removal goes like this.

Remove the panel inside the car covering the area where the mirror is(it's a small trim piece held on by one screw).

Now you have two small nuts holding the mirror securely to the door(I believe they're 7mm in size, you might want to have a pen magnet around to catch the nuts as they're in a tight space and could be tricky to get out w/o dropping them down into the door......especially if you have large hands/fingers).

When you get to this point, you're going to need to use your power mirror button to move the mirror all the way up, all the way left, and all the way right. There are three screws located behind the mirror/glass itself, a standard/small phillips head screwdriver will work great here, just be careful around the mirror so you don't wedge it against the actual cover/housing and break the glass. After that, you just need to maneuver it in such a way that you can unplug the connector on it. Hope this helps!

EDIT: Forgot to mention(but you might know this already). After removing the nuts securing the mirror, you need to pull it out from under the door trim at the bottom of the window, just look under the mirror and you'll see the little piece on the mirror that slides under the trim.

Im talking about the thing at th bottom of the window on the outside of the car the one he replaced to begin with, I know how to take the top one off
