Sucks!

Working on installing a T45 and am trying to test the Runout. Any advice? As I go through this process, I realized I had the wrong separator plate. Once I got the plate, I put the bell housing on to test the Runout only to realize I had to draw the bell housing onto the studs with the bolts.

Now i'm asking myself how in the heck am I going to get the bell housing off. *sigh* Rubber mallet? Big ole' screwdriver to pry it off?

Oh well, I realize i'm just venting, but still...if you have any words of wisdom/advice, i'm all ears. Still have to test the runout this afternoon...:(

Maybe use some grease or something on those studs so it'll be easy to get that bellhousing off.

Checking the runout is actually the part I didn't do in my Tremec 3550 install.

You could try heat. The aluminum bell should grow quite a bit more than the dowels.

The only other options I can come up with involve force. You could use a jack or portapower to force it off, or you could try levering it off with a pry bar.

If the fit is that tight, you need to buy an oversize reamer. They are typically .001" over the dowel size and allow for a slip fit. They aren't that expensive, can be used in a drill press chuck and don't require hammers and heat.
