Bellhousing won't come off

Greetings,
I'm in the process of putting on a new clutch (5.0 w/ T-5) and I can't get the bellhousing loose. I took all 6 bolts out and I think the dowel pins are just rusted fast. I don't want to hammer it and break it and I can't get any kind of wedge in the right place to drive it apart.
I'm thinking I may need to use a hand torch and heat up the dowel area to get it to let go.
Are the dowel pins pressed into the block or the bellhousing? I need to know this I guess if I decide to try the torch option.
Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Be sure to remove the starter, it helps to hold the bellhousing in place. Once it is out of the way, place a wooden block over the starter opening and give it a hard smack. That should shake the bellhousing loose from the block. Be sure that the bolts for the bellhousing to steel sheet spacer have been removed too. Tapping on the area where they fit can also help shake the bellhousing loose from the block.
