Now to start off I own a 02' v6 vert, but looking into a 02-04 GT for late summer. I have a few exhaust ideas and curious what kind of differences I can find in them. kinda like a cost to benefit ratio...

I'm looking for sound, power gains, and cost.

1. Long tubes, catted x or h, magnapack catback
2. shorties, catted x or h, magnapack
3. just borla axleback

I know theres fitment issues with magnaflow, but I wasnt sure if it was the magnapack or the origonal. :bang:

Along with this I will do a CAI, xcal2, STS, and I'll probly call it a day. My main concern is sound because when you hear a nice stang rolling by, I don't care how much faster it is as much as I just love listening to it!

well if all you care about is sound, i would go with the long tubes, catted H, and the MAGNAPACKS. dont get the regular magnaflow catback they are junk, the magnapacks are awesome. the H pipe will give you more of a retro muscle car sound and the X will give you more of a raspy nascar sound, that you have to decide which you like better. you will deffinetely make some more power with either of the first two setups but i wound never buy just an axleback, at least get the whole catback.

go to http://www.mustangexhaust.com/ and create an account and you can listen to TONS of exhuast combos and see which you like best.

I've been leaning towards shorties, catted h, and having a muffler shop make a catback with borlas. They sound the best imo. Longtubes are just so expensive, but they seem so worth it...there like $200 more, but how much more power they make for that extra cash?

From what I hear shorty headers will give very little performance gain on a 4.6. Longtubes on the other hand are suposidly one of the better bang for a buck mods for a 4.6. You can pick up a set of FlowTech longtubes for 240 bucks from Summit Racing. There is a thread on them a few spots down.
