Best drag radial?

I have the first version of BF Goodrich's Drag Radial, bought about 7 years ago. Sticky as hell when heated up and have over 10k miles on them without too much wear. I'd go with BF Goodrich.

How many miles do you drive on it a yr...how important is traction, willing to sacrifice life?

As for the best hooking, the MTs would take the crown, followed by the BFGs*1st version (goodyear has a DR out now, supposedly comparable to the MT). General rule of thumb, more hook, less life. These tires require some hefty burnouts to be most effective, so the more track visits will drastically decrease their life.

Spirockp, did u have any trips to the track? Thats some life your getting outta yours

I think your best bet would be the Nittos. They have great life, hook very well, and are pretty damn good in the rain. If the car sees little mileage/yr, then the BFG or MT may be more appealing as they will out perform the Nitto, but for a FL car I’m guessing its driven yr round, and it doesn’t seem like your itching for every bit of 60ft you can get. If you are that serious about hooking, id get a pair of slicks for the track. Fwiw, ive broke an axle on 275/40/17 nitto DR.

m/t radials supposed to have the same or longer tread life then the bfg's and they hook many times better. personally, i've never heard of anyone getting much more than 5,000 miles out of the bfg's.
if you want a decent sticky street tire with good tread life, then nittos are the way to go.

yea even 5k on the bfg's is a stretch... The NMRA Drag Radial class doesnt even allow the MTs, so that says something about how well they perform. Practically every car in that class runs a BFG ( I wanna say a Nitto sponsored car runs them too :D), and theyd have no problems putting those cars on the bumpers without those wheelie bars

i've had bfg's and nitto's and from what i noticed bfg's resulted in a better 60' every time but only lasted 5000miles, the nitto's i had for a good 10,000 miles and weren't as good as bfg's but much better than street tires. when i needed new ones- i bought more nitto's.

You do mean that M/T's are good because the NMRA doesn't allow them, correct?

If they were allowed, the whole BFG sponsored class would be running on them, which I think is the reason they're not allowed.

yea, i worded that pretty poorly...you hit it on the nose tho
