Best Headers for 04 Cobra

My friend just got a 2004 Cobra and he wants to put some headers and a xpipe and catback on it. I told him hookers are the best since thatz what I have but, Im not sure if they even make headers for the new cobra's. What do you guys recomend for the most power gains.

Tell him to forget about the headers. On a stock or even mildly modified Cobra the addition of long tube headers is not worth it. The money it costs to purchase and install them is not worth the minimal returns in HP & TQ. A cat back is a must do mod on the new Cobras, a new mid-pipe can be good for upwards of 10 HP on the '03. The '04 may be different because it comes with bigger stock cats on it compared to the '03. Use the header money to buy a CAI, a pulley, and a tune.

If your friend is dead set on getting headers, Kooks are about the best out there. I haven't read about anyone using the new Hooker headers on an '03 or '04 yet.

I recently installed Kooks Long Tubes on my 03, and have to say that they were worth the PITA install. Amazing sound and great power gains. They aren't worth it if you are going to do the basic mods though.

I would recommend either getting Kooks, or QMP Headers for Longtubes, and Bassani's for Mid-Lengths.

Please tell us what mods your car had prior to the Kooks LT install. I'd like to see your great power gains in the form of a before & after dyno sheet.

Installing LT's on a stock or even a mildly modified Cobra is a waste of time/money/effort. $1000 + installtion for 10 HP is NOT a good deal... Then you have to worry about leaks, scraping, custom mid-pipe....
