Best Heads for My Combo

Alright I have been piecing together a 408W for god knows how long, and now I am ready to buy a set of heads. My motor is a 60 over 351w with Eagle forged crank, Carrillo rods, and CP forged dishtop pistons. My cam specs are: Lunati solid roller, 3500-7200rpm, 248/256 duration at .050, .602/.602 lift, and lobe separation of 108.

I want to know which heads will work best for this combo? I am also planning on installing a 250shot of nitrous. I am debating between Trick Flow CNC, Victor Jrs, and Brodix Track 1's.

I also want to know if anyone has a suggestion on what size injectors I will need.

I personally would choose the victor jr.'s ported, And be sure to buy good head gaskets, i.e. cometic, if your spraying that much, unless you want to o- ring it. I would start off at 42 lb injectors, I am guessing with out more detail that you will be at least 500 + hp.

TFS-R stage 2 port, TFS Hi-port 225's cnc'd from adperformance.com, AFR 225's. I would go TFS-R. add on a TRS-R port matched intake or a Victor 5.8 EFI.

u better have more than a stock 351W block for a 250 shot. NA that motor s/h see 575fwhp and 540fwtq,. with a 250 shot ur over 800fwhp and the only block that will ahndle that safely is a SVO R351 or Dart.

Id look into the AFR 225's, they seem to be showing up on lots of stroked windsors lately.....Sounds exciting, and yeah, watch that stock block with that much naws!!

The TFS-R is going to required a R SPECIFIC Piston so they are out if you have pistons made for a inline head.

I would look at the AFR205 or 225 personally, get them with the N2O exhaust port as well it will help get the N2O out of the head.

How much do you want to spens? What header do you have? What year is the block?

I am looking to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $1500-2000, so I am relatively open for the heads I want. I haven't picked out headers yet, as I am waiting to buy the heads first. The guy I bought the shortblock from originally had yates C3 heads on it, but I don't want heads that big on the street.

I would go with the afr 205 or 225's. you can get them with larger exhaust ports for nitrous.

Why not? That'd be pretty badass. Hard to get races though if word was you had a yates-headed 408 under the hood.

Victor Jr's or AFR's. Your solid roller is almost the exactly as my hydraulic roller, just I have a 110 lobe sep

You can get Yates heads for $2600-3000 used (NASCAR take offs) with rockers.

But really they aint that good unless you got a lot of hours into them.

AFR 225 would be the way to go,or if you wanted more power for some work,you could go with a Edelbrock Victor #7726.

Why not? That'd be pretty badass. Hard to get races though if word was you had a yates-headed 408 under the hood.

I have heard that it is a real pain to get yates headers to fit under a fox without extensive modifications, plus yates heads are not legal for a lot of santioned racing events due to the canted valves. Believe me...they were my original consideration.

i have looked at yates heads on ebay a few times and dreamed about them. mind you i also dream about afr heads. i guess i should just put that 2 grand on my morgage instead of my car. it is very hard being satisfied with a mustang that runs 11's on juice. now i want 11's N/A and 10's on juice.

I have a 418 windsor in my car, I went with the TFS "R" heads on it. With hydro roller, unported heads/intake the motor made 581/539 flywheel #"s on pump gas. Cam is 252/262 @.05, 110 ls, .576/.576 lift, compression is 11.25:1, intake is a super victor with a 1000cfm demon carb. 1 7/8 kooks also. I paid under $1500 for the heads new and have no complaints. Also, with the 5spd on a shortshifted shakedown pass @3300 lbs the car went [email protected]. Just some food for thought.
