I am going to be purchasing an 8 point cage soon and i want to know where the best place to get it is. I dont really want to pay the $80 for frieght from summit but i will if i have to. I want to retain the use of my back seat if at all possible. I saw the universal rear down tubes that enable this in summit but im not sure how they work. I have heard that even the mustang specific kits come with some extra pip and you must cut to fit your particular car. Is this true. I am going to piece it together and tack it myself with my arc welder then send it out to be finished. any info on cages and where to get them and what not would be apprieciated thanks guys

I went to my local speed shop and got my 8 pt. I didnt have to pay freight that way. I got a competition engineering cage and had it bent to fit my interior. The guy that did it had a mandrel bender. The cost of the cage was like 150 bucks I think. The guy charged me 200 bucks to put it in and he also put in my sub frame connectors.

Problem with a pre-made roll bar is getting someone to install it.

Sometimes it's easy, but alot of chasis shops in NJ (i'm close to wild rides) don't want to install someone elses work, it's kind of an insult to ask them.

The roll bar will not make the insurance go up or down. However most insurance companies do not like to insure cars that are what they say are "race cars" so keep them away from looking at the car.

Ditto the S+W, but a friend had a local race car build put one in for $350 that turned out pretty dang good. If I were you, I'd ask around at the local track and see if you can get a hook up from a local chassis builder.
