Best pressure for BFG Drag Radials at track??

I'm hitting it at about 5900-6000 RPM... Dunno.. I was told I might need to check valve spring pressure and maybe shim them.

110 mph with 3.73 gears with a T-5 in 4th gear with a 26" tire (stock) is 5300 rpm.......I'm assuming the 4th gear on the 3550 is also 1.00:1 ratio. Are you sure you have 3.73's because by your rpms it sounds like you are in between 4.10 and 4.30

Well guys, I couldn't get my bfg's to hook at all tonight. My 60ft was a 2.15, time was a [email protected] mph on motor. I went as low as 16lbs of pressure and they still wouldn't hook. In the burnout area the car felt strong, but on the line it spun real bad. I was getting teased by everyone there. I'm running 275/50/15's on a 8.5" rim. I did a pretty good burnout I thought, but I guess it wasn't enough. I tried to spray the car on the first run and the bottle went dry on me and I spun violently in first and second and went a [email protected] mph. Should I be heating the tires a lot? I know on a real slick that you should get them nice and hot, but I don't know the best way to get a drag radial to hook. I've got the car set up for the track with the complete drag launch kit from eibach on it and the car hooks awesome on the street, but not worth a poop at the track. Anybody got any suggestions???

I run 10-11 psi cold, which ends up being around 12 psi hot. Yes, they'll hook. I launch at about 5200 rpm and get high 1.5s and low 1.6s on 275/50-15s.

Do a long burnout. They need to be hot. Once you get the pressure and burnout right, it's just a matter of practice.

Does anyone have a clue what my car should run if I get the spinning under control?? I'm thinking somewhere around an 8.0, but I'm not sure. I ran a 8.4 with a 2.15 60ft and went 85.55mph. I spun all the way through 1st and the beginning of 2nd. That was on motor. I figure why try spraying it if I can't even hook on motor. Hey 86Cobra, what kind of 1/8 mile times are you getting? I see your running 11.80's through the 1/4. Sounds like you've got a strong running street car.

later,

Matt
