best spring compressor for mustang front suspension.

I remember hearing about a kid that was killed by a flying spring. If I remember correctly he was lowering his stang. Better to be safe than sorry.

I used to think " how could you screw up a spring install " untill the day I removed an upside down spring in the front of a late model mustang.

Yeah, it's hilarious.

Check out this one. Must be because the guy is a Corral member. He must not have lowered the control arm slowly enough.

I will NEVER try to lower my car again . . . I called SEVERAL local shops and they told me that poping out the stock springs would be a cinch. (throwing in a prokit) Anyway, I got the front tires off, then unbolted the two bolts holding the rotor, and let it fall gently out. Then (doing what everyone told me) Put a jack under the A-Arm. Everything was going ok . . . Popped out the ball joint and what do you know, nothing yet. Ok, so now the scary part. They said to lower the A Arm slowly to let the spring fully extend and it will be loose enough to take it out. THAT WAS THE BIGGEST BUNCH OF CRAP IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!! I lowered the arm so slowly and then all of a sudden WWWWHHHHAMMMMMMMMM!! The damn thing almost took my head off. What the hell!!!!! Did i do something wrong?? I wanted to use compressors but everyone said that they wouldnt work.. . . . . . Please advise me accordingly!!!!!

I do not give advice to people to skip wearing their seatbelt. I have never needed mine to save my life, but for some odd reason I continue to use it. And even though I have never had a spring come flying at me, I always chain it up. Have respect for the couple thousand pounds of energy stored up in a coil spring.

Funny thread !!!!

Safety is always important, one should take certain precautions.

If a chain and spring compressor makes the job safer, the USE IT !!!

My point is it is not needed if you KNOW what the hell your doing. God told me how, so no problems here.

I did 5 Mustangs in 2 months and It was cake, even with backyard tools !

Never said it was a safe job, but SUPER easy to do and SUPER hard to get hurt if you know what your doing.]
