I have an '04 Mach 1- and desperately need to lower it- as I just got new 18in tire/rims and it looks even more 4x4 than ever. I was reading around and doing a little research...and from what I have gathered- lowering it decreases my traction???

I want it lowered, but I don't care about cornering- I'm simply a 1/4 mile driver and want to keep excellent traction. I have read about the Eibach Drag Launch Spring Kit- but that doesn't lower it at all!!!

Can anyone suggest a spring combo that will lower my Mach- but also keep the traction I can get with the stock setup???

Thanks in advance!

I am in the same situation as you. I dont even corner at all and go to the drag strip probably 3 times a month. What u want is a soft spring. I ordered the H&R sport springs. That is what comes in MM street and strip box package. That is suppose to drop it about 1 1/2 inches which to me is the perfect drop. I also got Tokico Illuminia 5 way adjustable shocks and struts. Getting all that installed next week so I'll let you know how I like it.

Steeda Sport Springs (1.25" drop) would be fine, and you could keep your stock shocks without too much dampening problems (though the tokicos that come on your car aren't great).

If you want the car to actually handle well, then just ask.

You need to decide what you are doing.....New 18's but looking for a 1/4 mile car? I don't get the thinking behind that purchase

Anyway, I guess to answer your question, spring rate and shock dampening will play a much bigger roll in traction than ride height.

What brand, type, and size tire are you running?

Look around for the springs with the lowest spring rate that will give you the drop you want, then get some adjustable shocks, or drag shocks, so you can play with the rebound and damping to get the weight transfer you are looking for.

To be quite honest with you, you could get a huge improvement in traction from switching to some decent tires and a bit of chassis work

I have no traction problems at all with my steeda sport springs with stock shocks and 315 Nittos, The other day I had around 11PSI in them and the thing would HOOK!!
