I have an 85 GT with the basic bolt ons, this is probably a mid 13 second car. I am going to be replacing my clutch and clutch cable, What is the best set up for a healthy street car??? I'm leaning towards the King cobra clutch but i am not 100% sure yet. And I don't know what cable or quadrant to use. Keep in mind I am not going to put another 10 inch clutch in it, I want to use the 10.5 inch setup that came on the later 5.0's.

Get a King Cobra if you plan on driving it on the street every day. Spec Stage 3 is a race clutch. (Harder Pedal Effort and clutch chatter). King Cobra will give you the feel of a stock clutch but with better holding power. (Easy Pedal Effort). As far as the cable goes there is no better quality than a factory Ford cable. Summit sells a "Stock Factory Cable" with a new clutch fork for $62.95 part #FMS-M7553A302. The adjustable cables are not as good and don't seem to last as long. As far as quadrants go, get any one with a firewall adjuster and you will be able to adjust your cable from right under your hood instad of under your car.

I run a King Cobra and 2 of my friends have them as well and none of us have had any problems. One of my friends car is a 2000 GT with an intercooled Procharger making 410 RWHP that weighs 3550 lbs. We got them from D&D.

spec 3 is not a race clutch :bang: and the pedal feel is not that much harder than stock for the 700lbs of tourque it takes. but for his set up a regular spec clutch. everthing else is just junk...................but ok for stock set-ups.
