best subframe connectors?

would a local muffler shop be able to weld the maximum motorsports no problem? I'm just concerned that it might be a more difficult job since the seat brackets need to be welded together before being welded to the car. I don't want to have to take it to a professional welding shop. thanks

Someone familiar with a welder should be able to do it. The only thing that may be an issue is if you run the MM full length connectors. I recently heard of an interior fire when welding these in b/c they didn't pull the carpet back. I would personally play it safe and pull the carpet up. Others may say it was the welders fault since they let it get too hot. Either way, doesn't matter if the car is on fire I didn't have to pull the carpet for my Kenny Browns since they are not full length.

if you don't pull the carpet up, at least put a bag of ice on the carpet above where you are welding

with that in mind would it be worth it to get a professional welder or would a muffler shop be just fine? Also, for those of you who have the maximum motosports, how much did you pay to get them welded in and who did you get to weld them for you? thanks

Find someone who can weld. Matter of fact do a search for a guy named neighbors. He has a how to for homemade subframe connectors. It will cost you a little over $20 for the set.

I think that I have decided to get some subframe connectors and wanted to hear from you all what ones you think are the best. I know that I want to get ones that come with a cross brace kit. Are the full length subframe connectors much better than the regulars? My car is mildly modded and I don't plan on taking it to the track very often if that makes a difference. I just know that I want to stiffen up that chassis. Thanks for the advice

I was looking at a few different ones for my car too. Go with a weld in type. Heck of alot better and more rigid. Being a fabricator on the side im just gonna make a set for my car in the coming months. Ill post some pics when im completed.

I have heard that the car feels alot better with the connectors installed.

on mine my father just tacked them in place and got the welding machine at the right heat for the thin steel of the body. I did the rest, it shows, but the welds are plenty good enough.

My wife bought me Kenny Brown super subframes and I couldnt beleive the difference it made on my vert. I had them welded in for 50 bucks.

Maximum Motorsports are the ones I have installed.

$224 for install. (More for the convertible install)

Full Length Subframes, I will be installing them on my next car even if it is a hardtop.

Very nice to not have any body flex. Combined with the MM strut tower brace, I can't complain.

When I did my GW's I considered weight as well.
Upon reading I heard the MM's are quite heavy for a subframe.

Mine are quite light (?10lb ea w/ seat bracket?) and the car's belly doesn't flex at all (well at least not noticeable by any means)

Burned carpet was not even a concern with the GW's and the labor was cheap as they fit perfect and require minimal welding and weld angles.

Plus they look so nice compared to many square tube units I've seen ...

For a track car only I would have gone with the KB extreme crap or something equivalent.
