Eazy Off let it settle, then scrub it. Repeat process as needed, then paint with spray paint. I did it to my car and man it looks great. Do a search for my name and you'll find pictures of my recent build.
I use this also, a little elbow grease and it looks great. I also find the Walmart brand cheap engine degreaser works great, I take them to the car wash if they are really dirty.
I saw Eazy Off mentioned, if you use this be careful it really isn't made for use on Alum.
