Best way to correct Speedo?

I got my 3:73's in yesterday and unfortunatley the old thread was lost. So here is the replacemnt thread.

To the best of my knowlege there are only 3 ways to correct the speedometer after a gear change. Which is best?

1. replace my current driven gear with a jeep 23t gear. I understand this may last anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand miles but is not a very accurate or permanet fix.

2. Replace my current drive gear from an 8t to a 6t and change the ddriven gear accordingly. How hard is this to do in a T5 equipped car?

3. Go with an electronic adjsuter like these:

Who has gone what route and what is your experience with them?

I am leaning towards #3 except for the cost as it will remain flexible later on if I change tire size (likely) or gear size (not likely) again.

I did the 23 tooth gear route... My stock gear lasted me 120k miles.... so why wont the 23 tooth gear do the same? Sure its not accuriate to the exact MPH, but at 45mph on my speedy, i'm really doing like 43-44mph so its not that far off at around town speeds, and for the price and ease of install its the best.

holy crap dude dont spend that kinda money on those. I bought a new spedo gear for my 3.55's from Mustangs unlimited for $20. There easy to replace.

BAH I run a SpeedCal from DM. It's fantabulous. Not only will it allow you to correct gear swaps, it allows adjustment for tire size changes as well. I give it .

I went with the speed cal to fix my speedometer after swapping to 3.55 gears. I tried just switching the speedo gear, but it was still off a little bit. I put the stock gear back in, flipped the switches on the speed cal, and it was right on. Pretty easy to do.

So has noone had thier 23t jeep gear get eaten up yet? I could've sworn I read this somewhere on here and I also saw it at this link:

I've had mine for over a year and the speedo gear is fine still works. Best 20 I've spent

Well I made the decision to break down and buy the brothers speedcal. Hopefully it will be here next week. It probably takes a week jsut for shipping out to CT.

Thanks everonefor their thoughts on thsi. I just hate doing things twice if I know that I may have to do that. With hoping to put at least 15k on the car this year I do not want to chance the jeep 23t gear.
