Best way to hook up an Ipod

Aux inputs is what I use on my Alpine and the sound is excellent. I also used a Griffon iTrip and found it to produce way to much static even after trying multiple fm signals.

There are some kits that utilize Ford's CD Changer input in the cases where no changer is being used. I believe Monster makes these permanent kits and they are quite expensive. I believe in your case, be ready to spend almost the same about as the iPod for a permanent installation.

I got lucky with my setup. $10 for a iPod windshield holder, $15 for Monster RCA to Speaker Plug adapter and $15 for a Alpine Ai-Net Adapter that converts cd changer input into a RCA input. When I play my iPod, its pretty much like playing cd's.

I heard even those FM Modulators have some issues with static and sound. I really think that it also depends on where you live too. I found that my iTrip worked best when not in a city, but out in the country. More than likely due to less interference.

Everyone I have run into with iPod's have found some way to link into thier head unit thru a cd changer or rca input to get the best sound.

I know that there are also those people who don't really care as long as they can hear some type of music coming thru thier radio from their iPod. But me, I want a pure, clear signal.

Check crutchfield to see if they might have a solution for your iPod connection. That is where I ordered that Alpine adapter.

I just bought a new alpine CDA-9855 HU which can use the alpine iPod adapter which lets you hook up, and charge your ipod while controlling it through your HU. Pretty slick and I cant wait to get it installed.

I also just got the Alpine 9855 + KCA420i (Ipod adapter) and it is the best HU I have seen yet for under $500 to control the IPod. I had an older Alpine with controlling the IPod and that work good, BUT man the 9855 is Awesome. The display is the best part you can see up to three artists at one time while scrolling thru the IPod and if you want to jump ahead about 10-20 artists just slide your finger all the way across the Glide Touch controls fairly fast. If any of you have used older HU Ipod controls then you will really appreciate that like I did. The price on this HU is expensive at $450 but it is definitely worth the money. The sound quality is also excellent. My advise would be if you can afford it buy the Alpine and don't mess with the FM transmitters.
