if i just floor the brake and punch the gas it will just bog and not spin or either start one tire. Should i ease the gas?

Today, i was playing around and stalled up my car to like 1600(factory stall)
and let off, hit the gas to much and then BOTH actually spun and left marks.

So i went to the back roads, stalled up, let off brake, puched gas, then hit the brake again, it moved forward, but it spun, i saw some tire marks in my mirror. BUT HOW DO I GET EM SPINNING WHILE STANDING STILL???

Is my drivetrain just weak and not ready for it yet?
I want to make a big ol smoke show, i know i cant but i want to sometime.

Also, on videos you see a stang roast em really good. How much tread does this burn off.

Foxfan88,

First off this is my opinion and not meant to be right or wrong judgement. On the street you don't want smoking and screeching tires...brings too much attention. Drag radials and judicial use of the go pedal gets you way ahead of the pack. I have datalogged 0-80 runs in 7 seconds keeping right at the edge of traction. Lots of torque and traction helps, I'm running a 306, 8.9:1 compression, KB Blowzilla at 8 psi, Edelbrock 60379 heads, 42# injectors, Crane 2030 cam and custom 2500 RPM 9.5" stall convertor. If I just floor it in first from a standing start there is way too much smoke and noise for my likes and way too slow....i.e. no go fast enough.

Good Luck, Don

if your car bogs when you do a powerstand (brake and gas) then you have other troubles besides not being able to spin the tires. also if only one tire spins its time to rebuild your rear end and throw some gears in there. but a stock mustang will still roach the tires pretty good. but burnouts always catch up to you :p

although i do not advise this, it does work

-put car in N
-put left foot on brake and push hard while reving the motor a little (the pedal should drop)
-while still holding the brake
-put the gas pedal WOT and pull the shifter down into 1 or D
-let the smoke roll

If this were instructions on how to blow a tranny it would be perfect.LOL You should be able to spin the tires holding the brake pretty easily, maybe a tune up is in order? If you car checks out ok you could use some water to start the car off or bleach-------lots of smoke.

Dont' floor the brake.. Just apply enough brake to keep you from moving forward.. The harder you hit the brake, the more you lock up the rear wheels, making it harder to get the rear tires to spin.

For mine, my technique is to stop. And just hit the gas.. This normally results in instantly hitting redline in first.. I switch it to 2nd gear (I have a lentech tranny) and it just spins them through 2nd as well. I keep enough gas on it to keep the rpm's near 5000 rpms. And eventually down the road (usually about 100+ feet later) the car hooks and goes..

I forget who said it, but throw some bleach down and it will work. I dont think it is really necessary because you should be able to smoke em without it. I have no problem just giving it gas with my foot on the brake while it is is drive. What you could do is start in 1 then do it. IMO I dont think its worth it. Id rather put my money towards something that will help my cars performance than constantly paying it towards tires or fixing something since you broke it messing around.

Should do it fine with light brake pressure and gas. Put it in 1 to prevent it from shifting gears on you, apply brake pressure, put your right foot down (a bunch, but not necesary to floor it) and regulate the break and gass till its standing still...

If your hell bent on doing them and cant, release some rear brake pressure and do it.

Remember, if you do them enough or at the wrong time and wrong place you will get in trouble!

horsepuppies.

thats the easiest way. go get some of those, and you will be asking how to keep them from spinning.....

fwiw, my STOCK 89 fries the tires, nitto nt555 245/45/17's with 2.73:1 gears, and a stock converter....however, my STOCK 91 lx conv, with hard as rock tires could not spin them at all, with 3:27 gears.....(unless powerbraking of course)... some stangs have low end torque, others do not. go figger........

Neutral Drop, HA HA, that will definetly work, make sure you pick up the pieces of your tranny (littering can be expensive) save that stuff for the rental cars. Try it at least once, it is pretty cool as long as it is not your car...

It's really easy!
burnout1.jpg

That is COMPLETELY 100% stock. (down to the air filter.)
52k miles
Just hold on to the brakes and hit the gas, even go a little bit then hit the brakes and keep mashing the gas.

Is it possible that both will actually spin once i get them turning real good, as opposed to mere barks.

Ive had it barking both tires alot so will it spin em if i really start smoking em??

that reminds me of my car, it would do one wicked brakestand back when i first got it and hook up pretty good. now with the explorer motor and other mods i cant keep the ass end in the same lane as the front and thats from a 20mph roll until i hit 3rd :rlaugh:
