Best way to wire alarm - solder or splices?

I'm planning to install an alarm/remote start/keyless entry, and I am curious of the best way to connect the wires. Do you solder them, or connect with slices? This won't look trashy will it? I'm new to soldering, so I'm assuming a little practice would help if that's the choice preferred. I found some solder joint things that you heat up, but they're like $.50 a piece and that's a little much.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Solder will always be stronger and a better electrical connection than splicing... considerint that you make a good solder. What type of wire are you using first off? If you do go this route also shrink wrap it for some insulation and some extra insurance too.

TU, you got it. solder is best. proper crimping can come close. i suck at soldering under a dash, with wires i can barely reach. so i crimp some. obviously, stuff like blocking diodes need to be soldered - ditto for things where resistance matters (one wire locks, etc).

but i would take a good crimp over a bad solder. so mix it up and have fun. good luck with the install.

for the ones that you do crimp, only use the one end of the splice. wrap the wires around each other, insert, then crimp. this is almost certain for a good connection.
