My laptop told me one time that the site contained a virus. After that it wouldn't allow me to visit it. Well just now I was on it on my desktop. It poped up some fake ass virus scanner and now my computer won't close out of the damn screen. I know a lot of people use it but I will no longer after this. Just wanted to warn you guys I will be posting this on all the forums I belong to

No don't think that was it. I believe my dad had that on his laptop once though lol.

Guy on dodgetalk said this has happened before and give them a few weeks to fix it. I'd rather not be on there and be like SURPRISE VIRUS

i know of this problem all too well. i have worked on 20 + machines that has gotten this very annoying 'scanner'. its managed to slip past the local school system firewall , county courthouse and infect tons of home users - myself included! myspace, certain lyrics sites, **** sites etc greatens your chance of getting it but anyone can pick it by JUST BEING CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET. i done a fresh format and reinstall of xp pro on a personal machine (sp3), anti virus , etc and all i did was plug the cat5 cable in and got it. and im behind a router to boot. there are actually two advertisement companies behind this which were tied in a lawsuit over it. the program 'scans' your computer in hopes that you will buy its product which is anywhere from $50 on up. then that company charges you monthly, usually around $80-$100. i have had two customers purchase it. the designer of the program is very smart. they have designed the program so when you click on the 'X', that activates it. best thing to do it crtl-alt-del and end the program thru task manager. then, as the above poster stated, download and run malware bytes. awesome program but you have to run it as soon as you see the scanner or it will do no good

Best way I could say to not get it is good a good firewall software and if your that serious get a piece of hardware too.But like fiveoho said, it get's past those. Only thing you can really do is use firefox to browse the net, don't use that website, and get the adblock and noscript addons.
