BFG G-force drag radials or Nitto 555r drag radials?

I am buying new tires soon. I am currently running BFgoodrich G-force KDW on all four corners in 265/35zr18, but I am thinking with my limited traction thanks to my vortech, I will put drag radials on the back this time. However, my car is a daily driver, so I am looking for the one that gets the most miles out of it. I assume they are both stickier than what I have now, but I still need to get a decent amount of miles out of them. How do the BFG's do in the rain, I know the nittos aren't that bad as long as you take it easy because they atleast have a full tread, but the centers in the bfg's are completly slick which leads me to believe that they will not tolerate any rain. Anyone have any experience with the BFG's? I know several of you guys are running the nitto's, how many miles do you get out of them, and how do you drive on them. Mine probably won't see the track at all and if they do it will only be for a pass or two. I'm just looking for better off the line traction on the street.

I just put my first set of Nitto DR's put on ~2 weeks ago. They hook great, and are fine to me in the rain. They actually seem to get pretty good wet traction, maybe the big complaint in the rain is more hydroplaning  I'd get the Nittos, and consider some new rear upper, and lower control arms. On slick pavement my car will still spin a tad bit in 1st under WOT. On good pavement is just hooks no matter how much gas is in the tank :)

BTW I got 275/40 R 17's

I too have BFG D/Rs. 295/30R18's and they did wonders for my 60ft times. Unreal. No alternatives for a weekender/track car. They are very streetable and look great. only concern is all the stones they pick up! They have the consistancy of an eraser.

ps - As for their rain capabilities...D/Rs are not designed for the rain, so I don't use them in it. :)

I have 315/35-17 BFG DR's also, and after you heat them up those damn things get STICKY. Even when they're cool, I can roll down my driveway and pick up quarter-sized rocks by the tip of them.

Since I put alot of miles on my car, I guess I better go with the Nitto's. Who has the best price on them. discounttiredirect.com wants $275/each for the 275/35zr18's. That's a $100 a piece more than the BFG's from tirerack.com . Maybe even if the BFG's get less mileage for $100/each less I can change them out more often? They are only $175/each.

I've had both. I loved both. the BFG's hooked MUCH better. The nittos are better in rain and have had a MUCH longer tread life.
Exactly.

I must say that I have driven mine in the rain with the BFGs and it was fine. I've never had a problem with them in the wet at all but you have to use your head when driving on drag radials in the rain whether they're BFG or Nitto as they're just not designed for that.

I'm coming on 5k miles on my latest set of BFGs and there's still another 2k-3k miles in them I'm guessing.

I had the same dilema about two months ago and went with the BFG Drag Radials 295/35/18. Tire life is not a concern for me because I put less than 2,000 miles a year on my car. They hook great and lowred my ET by 1.2 secs!!! They do not perform very well on th rain...on a scale of 0-10 performance-wise, I would give 'em a 9 on dry weather and a 3 on wet weather. Although I don't have any experience with the Nitto's, I heard they are good and I'm pretty sure you will get more mileage out of them. Good luck!

I had the BFG drag radials on my 90 GT about 4 yrs ago. Not sure if they are the same offering that BFG has now. They were O.K. for my car in dry conditions...still spun but she was pushing 500 rwhp. For that hp, they sucked in the rain. No traction what so ever....If the nittos have a better tread pattern that would most likely make them better for daily driving. Buy rims for the DR's and use them at the track.
