Black Magic Xtreme Sale

If anyone is interested, found a place called Moe's Performance that has the flex-a-lite black magic xtreme 180 on sale for $229. Normally over $300! They also have the Mustang bracket kit available (which is normally included with the 185 model). Together the 180 kit + Mustang brackets = $274, free shipping.

Sale until end of August 2008. Haven't yet made up my mind which e-fan I want, but this seems like a nice kit. Anyone with experience with the F-A-L Xtreme fan?

I know everyone here loves the DCC + Taurus or Mark VIII fan, but I can't put a junkyard part on my baby. Probably stupid of me, I know...

That still sounds like a lot.

I got a Taurus and Mark VIII fan for $11 a peice and spent under 70 bucks for misc stuff. I sprayed the Taurus fan I'm using with some black Fusion paint and it looks brand new. Plus if anything goes wrong with the motor I can easily get a new one.

My electric fan was free (guy threw it in free with the '84) and it's about the same design as a BM-FAL fan (I think it's a GM OEM fan). But it you wanna send me $273 for it, I'd be more than happy to send it your way and save ya' a buck... :D

If you have a junkyard close to you it's almost silly not to use a Taurus or Mark VIII/4.6 Tbird fan. They work fantastic and are readily available. Buy 2 Taurus fans and just pull the motor out of the second one for a spare.

Compliance

I like the idea of getting two fans from the junkyard. The other thing I could do is get one shroud and all from junkyard and then buy a new taurus efan motor from local parts shop. I'm afraid of the Mark VIII fan because new motors seem hard to find.

I'm thinking I'll buy a DCC controller as well. Is the standard 35amp model enough for the Taurus E-fan, or should I get the 60amp?

Thanks for the persuasion, it will save me $$$.

I don't know anything about the DCC controller stuff...it all seems over complicated to me. I use a simple adjustable controller that has a copper probe that slips into the upper radiator hose and has a knob you can turn to adjust what temperature the fan kicks on and off at...it's worked flawlessly for 4 years now. I got an 80amp relay off ebay for the MVIII fan and all is good.
