Not sure this qualifies as 'tech' but...Car has stock alt/BBK pullies(for now) anyone modded/altered/changed from the stock turn signal relay to get a faster blink rate or will changing over to the 3g alt solve this? I rememeber it being on the slow side even before pullies ??? cheers

u need to change the relay, i have a powermaster 140 amp in mine and still blinks like an old lady

I know in trucks when you add a trailer the blinkers will not work correctly due to differences in voltage. Changing to an electronic relay fixes this because it works independent of voltage. I would think you could do the same thing in your car as well. Only downside is you lose the ability to tell when a bulb burns out from inside the car.

yep, if too much wattage is drawn through the circuit (for each side), the blinker is real fast. if too little (or when one bulb burns out, etc) it is too slow or does not blink at all.

normal blinkers use a bi-metallic spring to make the lights flash. the strip rests on the contacts (flash). as it heats up, it bends away (no flash). then it cools and comes back to make contact, etc. now you get the reasoning for how they work and how a bulb being burned out affects it. ditto for why when some run custom lighting (or Adam's example), the flashers work funny.

Adam's idea is a great one - use an electronic flasher.

There are different flashers that will change the speed of the flash as well. Like Hissin was talking about, it if it heats up faster, it will blink faster, slower it will blink slower.

Couldn't you just change out to a different (lighter) flasher?

thats what I was thinkin also, gonna attempt to mod the electronic flasher thats currently there. Its encased in a clear plastic shield and noticed theres a spring that loads the actual blinker contacts. Thinking: lighter spring rate=faster blink rate Also noticed a diode of sorts also there, maybe radio shack can enlighten me on to what could be swapped in ??

Sounds like a cool project or you could just go to the parts store and get a lighter duty flasher.
