blow through maf and SC?

i just want to know if it can be done. Because to run a blow off valve rather than a bypass valve you need a blow through maf if u dont want ut car to act retarted. so my question is, because the intake tube running from the sc, to the manifold is so short, would it work to put a blow through maf right there?

I imagine that if Vortec can fit a intercooler in there that you could fit a meter in there. I wonder how sensitive to heat those types of meters are though?

Well, you kinda HAVE to put it between the s/c and throttle body...

True. I was thinking more along the lines of putting it between the exhaust side of and intercooler and the intake. I've never run a blow through but understand the basic operation of a meter. It actually measures airflow by generating heat through the element to vary the resistance going to the EEC. I just wonder how much of a role that the blower discharge air might have on the meter.

I was more or less commenting on his question if it would fit there... So you are questioning whether not having an IC will affect it's reliability with the increased temperature? My buddy hasn't run into any problems with his novi, but I am not a pro on blow-through maf's

heres what im wondering:

Can I install a blow through MAF there, with out running into problems? If necessary i can wrap it so it doesnt heat up. Im not planning on running an intercooler, although if i do choose to, the SC will remain in that location

What is the difference of blow thru and draw thru besides the obvious location?? do they have a different way of sensing airflow or something. ive never seen any place that sells a "draw thru" or "blow thru" maf, so i was thinking maybe theyre the same maf but different location?

if you want to run a BOV you would HAVE to put the blow through maf there... blow through meaning it can be used with boosted air running through it, a draw through maf does not allow accurate measurements of boosted air... Also, the BOV will need to be on the S/C side of the maf

correct, i know that much, but will it provide accurate readings being so close to the sc and tb?

I am running a blowthrough meter (protube) on my Procharger setup. They are easy to install. PMAS makes one called a protube, you can get it in 3" or 3.5" whichever you need. Just make sure you mention there is an elbow either before or after within 12" of the meter. I am sure you can make it work, but dont cut until you get the meter, they are pretty long, you will only have a little left of the vortech pipe. The only problem i can see is that the air coming from your Vortech is going to be hot, much hotter than an intercooled car, which could definitely hurt the performance of the car. Yea, and with the BOV right before it it will probably create a lot of turbulence as well. I would just call the maf company tech support and ask them.

I just run a C&L 73mm with the stock element in it as a blow through, works fine.
