Hey i guys i currently am running the b303 cam in my car but its not a blower cam. What would be a good blower cam to use without going with a custom cam? thanks in advance.

N/A cams generally have a lot of duration on intake and exhaust and a lot of overlap, i.e small LSA 112 or less.

Blower cams have a lot of lift and less duration (maybe a little more on the exhaust) and a LSA typically 114 degrees with less overlap, why?

Blowers push a lot of air into the cylinders, there is no need for the intake valve closing much later like the N/A cams (to promote air packing in the cylinders). And smaller overlap because you dont want to blow all that precious boost out the exhaust valve.

I know of people making some good #'s with the F-cam on blower setups. I read somewhere, I think it was on turbomustangs.com of someone making 1200hp on the F-cam.

I am running an E cam with a novi at about 6-7 psi.

How can you figure LSA? That is lobe seperation. Right?

E cam = 220/220* , .498/.498 lift @.50

F cam = 226/226* , .512/.512 lift @.50

I'm not sure if i can run an F cam. Too much lift?

Going by what was said about lower duration and higher lift, looks like the X cam would be a better blower cam than the F cam. Right?

X cam = 224/224* , .542/.542 lift @ .50

I just dont get cams.

Thanks

Both the F and X cam i would not recommend for a blower because of the large durations. Sure you could use it, it would actually work great on a 1000+HP engine, but for engines typically making 400-500 HP a blower cannot take advantage of the large duration NA cam.

An E cam with 1.7 RR in my eyes would be a good blower cam setup.

I have a custom FTI blower cam that I got for a customer who decided to go a different way. 50 state emissions legal, and would work very well with that combo, only issue you may have is spring pressure.

$325 shipped

I have the B-31 in my blown 331 and it is a pretty decent cam. In my 331 with TW heads, E-brock RPM intake, 3.55 Aod'ed car, it pulled to an 11.19 with stock EEC. And that was on 17" Mickey T drag radials, at a race weight of 3450... All in all I say it is a pretty decent cam.

But for not much more a custom cam would be the way to go. I have been debating about swapping to one while my motor is out though.. Just haven't made up my mind on that yet. I can either swap to a custom cam or swap to a long tube set-up... Just haven't decided yet..

Steeda 19, AFM B-31, F-cam, E-cam, and TFS stg 1 are all good off-the-shelf blower cams.

:OT: Myke86GT, what size injectors are you running?

I am thinking about purchasing a 347. I am running 30's right now. I think that i will need to upgrade to 42's. I have been reading about the tweecer and pms but dont really want to get involved in messing with the computer.

thanks......

5.02go - you don't 'figure' LSA -- it's ground into the cam -- your Ecam has a 110 LSA.

If you want to learn more about cams and how they do what they do, go here -- http://www.wighat.com/fcr3/ -- open every tab and read. And btw, with a boosted 347 that needs 42's -- it's likely that someone (you or someone you pay lots of money to) is gonna have to 'get involved messing with the computer'.

I run 42's with a 255 HP intank, with a t-rex and 40#'s fuel pressure, plus all this was on stock EEC. I know I need a chip or something, but didn't at the time..
