hey guys im trying to figure out which way to go.. i just cant justity spending an extra 2,400 dollars on a DART block right now...

im lookin at a 331 or a 347 from FPS. I can get a FULLY built motor with everythig from the oil pan to the valve covers except the upper and lower intake for $5,500... theres no price increase or decrease between the two engines...

what im looking for is how much hp and trq do you think these engines would make with lets say a ported cobra intake, and a vortech a-trim pullied for 8-9 lbs of boost... what would your guess at the ET in the 1/4 mile be as well?

hwo much HP and trq do you think the same blocks would have but with an S-trim pullied for 10-12 lbs of boost? what would the ET be?

5500........wow. scary to think of destroying that...

i think with a 306, with GOOD flowing heads, and a good tune, and all parts........ 12 psi of s trim//////your looking at block splitting power, and easy low 10 capable, at 125-128mph (depending on chassis, driver, and planet alignment of course)......... so a 331, or 347, is just going to take less than 12lbs to do it.
i really dont see why, if you are running a s/c, thats a 331 or 347 is considered UNLESS you have a dart block. too much $$$ to spend for no reason. IMHO!!!!!!!!!

spend the money on GOOD heads, and GOOD parts to support 500rwhp, and it will be cheaper to do it with a blower and a 306.

good luck!

are used r-blocks or dart blocks ok to use?

Yes as long as they arent split or bored to the max.

I just saw you were out of Ill. if you are looking for parts and stuff hell he even sells stroker kits try the link at the bottom, he is out of the Chi-town area but he could prob locate you a good block if you are intrested. His name is Alex his email is [email protected] or phone (708) 447-4912.

I have $4800 in my Dart shortblock. Since that's paying $1750 for my new block, I don't think $5500 for a longblock using a stock block is that good of a deal.

Anyway, my a/f was below 10:1 and I made >600rwhp through the AOD on 13psi and 93 octane with no methanol. You need an aftermarket block for a blown stroker or you'll have to be real conservative.
