Great Defensive game so far. Polamalu is just a freak

I don't think many people know this but Polamalu was injured often early in his career. As a result he began a very unusual training routine. I saw a 1 hour show on it a few months back. I've been a gym rat going back to the early 1980's and what I saw was amazing.

He has a special trainer that trains him for strength and flexibility. The routines are nothing like what I've seen before. Speed is heavily stressed. I can see how with his 100% effort in this training it has improved his game speed. I'd bet that other players will soon try to follow his lead.

To me, it looked like that system would work very well.

And for any other player I think that would have been a minimum of a season ending injury. I think his training is a big part of why it was only a sprain.

It's hard to say but he is in top shape. I've heard folks ask who is better between him & Ed Reed. That's how good he's been. If I were younger (I'm 49) I'd try some of this training program.

BTW: I selected Hines Ward as my #2 WR in Yahoo fantasy football. He did well Thursday.

Ed Reed is a great safety but Troy is unquestionably a step above.

troy is great no doubt but i dunno about a step above ed reed i think there neck and neck. troy is involved in more plays because pittsburgh gives him alot more freedom to roam.

Bluffing would naturally pick his own guy. I believe Reed is a wee bit better...has an advantage in coverage. However the difference is slight, IMO and would be very happy to have either one on the Giants.

Did the Pats pick up another quarterback? Who's his back up now?

I am the one looking for him and no.. his thread will be up on tuesday..

I pulled his account in the mod panel and he has been coming here just not posting.. He has until tuesday to show up.. after that his account will be locked for a month and a post of his will be stuck to the top of the UL will my changes..

Mike, what's the significance of Tuesday? I can see he has been lurking around Stangnet but not posting in a month. It's hard to believe that someone would be so ashamed of his lack of football knowledge that he can't come back and take his lumps and get it over with. Back in February of 2008, to his credit Redline dropped by the following day after the Superbowl to admit his lack of football wisdom.

I see what you're saying but that isn't true. If you say Brady or Ben, I would tell you Brady is a better "pure" QB. Troy is just better. All Reed has is pass coverage. Troy is everywhere on almost every play. Not only that, but when he stays in coverage, he's just as good as Reed.

his pass coverage is NOT as good as reed. again him being involved in more plays all comes back to him being more like a monster linebacker instead of a DB he has alot of free roam reed does not.

Coming from the guy that thinks Favre is the greatest QB ever, I'll take what you say with a grain of salt. Reed is great, and his stat line shows his pass defense skills are there. Ever think Troy's aren't quite as good (though not far behind) because he is roaming around making plays?

I figured I will give him the entire opening weekend to come back before I stick a thread for him and lock his account for a month

if you go back and read my post again i listed my top 4 and brett was not number 1

im not saying it as a put down to troy just stating the truth reed is the best safety in the league against the pass no question.

anywho brett looks decent and efficient today, and peterson is tearing it up. brady quinn def has the potential to be a good qb in the league he just needs a lil help.
