Heard about that last night, didn't see that one coming b/c there was a lot of talk about Green Bay and Minnesota. Wonder if they are setting up a replacement for McNab when he decides to call it quits.

Surprised to see no discussion about last night's preseason games?

Steelers beat the Cardinals, Patriots beat the Eagles (barely) and the Raiders thoroughly whipped the Cowboys...so either the Raiders are way better so far or the Cowboys weren't trying.

I know preseason doesn't mean much though...

I just think hes been put on a pedestal and does not belong on. I dont see in anyway how he should be the highest paid player in the NFL. Granted the Giants won the Superbowl in 07 but that was due more to Tyre somehow coming down w/ the ball on a third and thirteen. Even going to and winning the SB as a QB is no reason for you to become the highest paid player in the game. IMO there are many other players in many other positions who are more valuable then a Eli Manning. Id take Larry Fitzgerald 7 days a week over Eli.

Larry Fitzgerald is probably the best WR in the league right now.
I rarely, if ever see Eli put on a pedestal. He is hated by many. As far as the contract...

You have to remember, getting paid the most doesn't imply he's the best. Only that he is the most recent. Already Cutler and Rivers have been making some noise about a fat contract. Once theirs comes up, they will top Eli's and become the highest paid.

Yeah I am really concerned about that barely in the win over the eagles.... those scrubs that won't see much action or might not even be on the team almost giving up the lead could be a real problem

BTW the only thing that matter to me was the first half, and the most important part is how did brady look and he was fine. if they gave up 16,000 points in the second half I would not care

I completely forgot about this game, I did see brady for a few mins when I stopped at the store to get some beer on the way over to another house, they were not watching the game but only being preseason I was not to concerned. He looked fine though, nice to see #12 back on the field

Imagine being a Broncos fan? All they needed was to shore up the D a bit and perhaps grab another running back at the end of last year. Now they are faced with a dork head coach who just pissed away Cutler who could very well be a franchise QB! They are screwed for years.

Interesting question:

Out of all the current NFL head coaches, who do you think is the worst and why?

I'd pick Wade Phillips. Why? Because he's just a figurehead to Jerry Jones who makes all the team & player related decisions. Also, he's fat and stupid. He has never won a playoff game in all his time as a head coach and probably never will. WP is also a sore loser. He says negative things about a team when they beat the Cowboys. Granted, as defensive coordinator he did a good job but as a head coach he seems to be clueless.

+1 Id have to go w/ him as well. There are other pretty bad head coach's but WP just sucks. Anytime the GM makes all the team trades and decisions means there is either not much faith in the head coach or JJ is just a control freak.

2 passes by eli, 2 receivers that had to jump up to get the ball. Seems like the only ones he does not over throw are short dump offs

Is JJ the GM also??? He's the freegin' owner. I can see 100% a team's GM making personnel decisions, that's what they are paid to do.

Eli's passes were high because he is still very excited about his new contract. What did you think of 6'6" Rames Barden? The kid has looked good in practice and looked good with his 20 yd catch tonight. I hope he becomes a great replacement for Burress. The Giants have NEVER actually drafted a great #1 WR.

I thought JJ Was the GM and owner. Nice cover but he throws high b/c hes always thrown high and will continue to do so. If they dont have a receiver emerge that's tall and has the hands of burress then their long game is all but gone this season.

Venom, I've seen Eli throw some grounders too. He probably does throw them high balls more often though. At least it's not uncatchable.

Great ending to that game, huh? I'm glad they didn't have to go into overtime. Im really confused about something though.

The final play of the game where the Giants scored, the Giants were up by 6 and the clock was at 00:00. Why did the Giants get the chance to kick the extra point? I thought the rule was that if you had enough points to win, you end right there. If they needed 1 or 2 more points to win, they'd get the extra point attempt. What gives?

OK. It was overtime I was thinking of. The extra point is not kicked if the touchdown itself has already won you the game.

I didn't see the ending, guess I missed something

True they are not uncatchable but that's only due to the quality of receivers catching them. Would you want Eli throwing to TO ???

What I noticed that the Giants do a lot of to mask his consistency to throw high is they do a lot of hook type passes where the receiver stops and turns to catch the ball. I think its very rare to have a receiver streaking down the sideline and have the ball land like a feather in his hands. Even the Tyree catch in the superbowl was all Tyree, that was a horrible pass. Got the job done but none the less.
