My 88 GT put down 240 rwhp sae corrected on a Dynojet years ago with an Explorer Intake, 93 Cobra Cam, Cobra 1.7 Roller Rockers, Hooker Shortys, Offroad H Pipe, Flowsmasher Catback, Pro M 75mm Bullet, SN95 E Fan, Aluminum DS. Stock Heads, stock throttle body, stock pulleys.

Im wondering how a 94-95 Cobra would compare, similar, biggest difference is the heads. I still think I could have gotten a little more out of the GT if I had changed plugs and such and messed with timing some and gotten ud pulleys.

Figure this...the Cobra's factory were rated at 240 hp...they already had the gt40 heads and a .485 lift cam with 1.7 rockers and a better intake manifold...with bolt on's I don't see why you should have 250+ rwhp...maybe even close to 300 with full bolt-on's.

I got 255 rwhp and 295 rwtq on my 94 Cobra with bolt ons. Bolt on include FRPP headers, Bassani X with cat, flow cat back, 3.73 gears, 65mm TB, Pro M 77 MAF meter caled for 94\95 cobras and home made CAI, FRPP extender.
Stock I dynoed 232 rwhp and 280 rwtq.
Edited to 280, not 380, opps.

These all oem combo parts threads are always so misleading :bang:

Its a fact ... most don't make it to 300 :(

Also a fact ... some have :nice:
so
It is certainly possible ;)

Here is the thing nobody talks about with these combos

Most don't do anything but slap the parts together :Word:
No attention is paid to detail :nono:

Little things that can make such a noticeable difference :D
Most just don't take advantage of them

I'd bet you the biggest steak in Fort Worth, Texas

Those combos you see who make it to 300 or better

They did more than just slap it together :Word:

Stock Cobras were rated at 235hp (or 240hp depending on where you read) at the crank. That translates into 205-210hp at the rear wheels so it'll give you a perspective on where you are with mods.
With external bolt-ons and stock HCI, 270rwhp is as good as you're gonna get so anything over that is damned impressive. That's about 35rwhp more than you'd get with the same mods on a 5.0 GT.

I thought it was possible. Who ported your heads?

It is posible to get a cobra over 300 rwhp with bolt ons and some head and intake work.I got my stuff done at a local speed shop here in cali they ported the upper, lower and ported and polished the heads with a 3 angle valve job and ported my headers to match the ported exhaust ports and with a tune and the stuff in my sign I got barely over 300 rwhp .I spent about 1,000 dollars with everything and I know you guys might say I should of spent it on better heads but I just wanted a little more power while keeping it looking stock when I open the hood and I was satisfied with the results.

they were underated and they did not make 205-210 at the rear wheels stock

You may be right but it does make me wonder when I see this:

If he really dynoed 232rwhp/280rwtq stock, I'd be rather disappointed with a mere 23rwhp/15rwtq gain from all those mods if I was in his shoes.

I'm gonna assume you meant 280 rwtrq.

That looks right to me. Getting that dog of a stock Cobra cam over 300 HP would be a hell of an accomplishment. I believe that worked heads, a worked intake, and an after market cam could do it, but I have a tough time believing the stock cam could.

Is it your thinking that you loose 12.5% in the drive line

Sounds like some nice work :)

The things you mention here are along the lines I was talking about :D

The tune is the biggie :Word:

To be fair here ;)
A lot of peeps who go the OEM parts route got a tight budget :(
so
A lot of the time ... they don't get that opportunity :nono:

Like Adam ... I'd like to see your pull :nice:
