Boooooost!

turbo kit was 2799+500 for the injectors & MAF. Got it from ponydown.net Still have the T-5 in there but it seems pretty fresh. Hopefully it will hold out for the t-56 swap.

What do you use to tune yours ej, just the BTM? I should buy one of those too,...

Matt, at the moment all I have is a BTM and a Vortech super FMU. Using a BTM would be a good way to start till you get something you can really tune with like the AEM. And even after you get a system, having the ignition part of the box will still be good to have.

Wanna Be GT, Noong only had one block actually break in his car. And man, that thing had a very tough life before he got ahold of it.

That reminds me... I also have the Vortech FMU with multiple calibration discs, including discs for the 42lbers, sitting next to the MSD BTM on the shelf... ;)

I ran the BTM and FMU (with a 10:1 disc) for about 3 or 4 months. Never had any problems with that setup... other than running way too rich on the top end and leaving power on the table.

I was planing on not needing the FMU, do you think I'll need it? I have a 76mm blow-threw, with the kit with the 42's, and aj. FPR.

Matt

No, I don't think you'll need it. What fuel pump you running? I have a 255 high pressure intank, stock lines, SN-95 fuel rails, adj reg, and 42's and it works pretty good.

Nate

What A/R is the turbine on the T70? What rear gearing are you planning on running? When you get it finished, I have a wide band oxygen sensor you could borrow to help you tune it (since you're local).

I agree with Nate, the 42s should be fine. That is unless your really gonna try to split that block and get crazy with the booooost. The only reason I run an FMU is at the moment I have 36#ers and they arent quite enough for the power Im making by themselves. The Super FMU has some decent tuning abilities though so Im getting a fairly flat fuel curve. I do have some 42s that might make it on my car some day though.

Two guys with BTMs on their shelves huh? I just swapped my pulleys on my SC-Trim out this summer and have been trying to decide which direction I want go go with my ignition retarding. Was thinking about getting a PMS or something but a BTM might make a nice short-term solution. I am having a hard time convincing myself to drop so much cash on a tuner after all the cash my car has already "absorbed" this year... Let me know if either of you want to sell your BTM.

I putting in a 255lph intake, "has a 190lph right now." Looks like I wont need the FMU If your doing just fine. I have stock lines & rails. The turbo has a .68 housing.

94gsl5.0- I'll come get your BTM when I have the kit in my hand.

KyLeL- I bought a AEM wideband con. but thanks anyways! I'll be running a set of 3.73's I bought from mystic, there still in the box.

Another good thing about running the DFI (and I think the AEM can too) is you can run the other injector impedance so you get lotts of fuel cap (like up to 80 or 100lbs/hr) but still have good idle quality. The ford computer cant do that, even with a piggy back.

Just something to think about... cuz you knooowwww it wont be "fast enough" for long. :D

The plug and Play AEM ECU's for the 5.0's do not have a built in low impedence injector driver. You have to make a driver box or buy the AEM unit. The Universal AEM box's are a different story but are also more $$$$.

I've heard the MegaSquirt can run both types of injectors, but I have not tried. Plus the MegaSquirt is not plug and play, but it's a killer deal for the Do It Yourself person....

Nate:nice:

I have used Megasquirt. Helped my friend get his VW Rally car running on it. Very Good stuff for the DIY'er especially on a budget.

However, we both agreed that for a Daily Driven, boosted car, (and if you have the cash) AEM would be the better choice. One of the main complaints we had with the Megasquirt setup was the Squirt did not quite have the resolution that we would have liked. I think they may have given it more resolution with the updates, though.
