BOSS 302 - How could you let it get like this?

Just wondering how someone could let a BOSS 302 get like this?
Or any other classic/cool car.

I can't believe the ad the way it's written. He says it was stored in '74? No way the car got into that condition in 4 years. Unless by stored he means parked outside in a field.

In the '70s and even '80s that car was worth nothing in condition like that. It's hard to imagine that someone is willing to pay so much for a VIN number.

It ain't hard to imagine how it could get that way in the last 35 years. Especially stored outdoors or in a rat infested barn. Love those "quad" tail lights. Did y'all also see where he replaced the front fenders with "genuine" Boss fenders? I didn't realize they were that different from the std fastbacks. Hopefully it'll go to a good home.

There actually was a difference... the Boss fenders were radiused to clear the larger wheel/tire combo. (Nuthin you couldnt do with a baseball bat between the fender and the tire - but it does have a different part number).

Good grief though... I don't think I have ever seen so much rot on a 69-70 car. I recently pulled a '64 Falcon out of the weeds that was in better shape.

Based on the background, it looks like being out in a feild under a plastic (moisture trapping) tarp is what he meant.

Yeah, that would do it... maybe. I would still think that the painted surfaces would be fine, but who knows. I could understand the pans being wet for 30 years could be a little problem.

Why do people do this? That car could be worth a mint.

Around here, storing old cars in fields is common practice. I recall one complete 69 Mach I 351W-4bbl car sitting out in a field, looked almost identical to that Boss. It didn't have a cover, the sun baked the paint and interior to toast. You ask them to sell and always get one of two replies: "I'm gonna fix it up someday" or "It's worth a ten times the money you're offering"

There are actually three different mustang fenders in 1970; BOSS 429, BOSS 302 and regular mustangs.

The BOSS 9 fender is similar to the BOSS 302 but is rolled much tighter and hammered down flat. The fender lip was hammered down over a piece of wire to maintain the consistancy of the wheel opening.

I think that car has been on eBay before, maybe a year ago maybe more. The extra tail lights and the pic of the engine without the carb reminds me of another auction. I want to say it was a Boss 302 but maybe not.

That thing is rusted bigtime. 10K for a title/vin is what the high bidder is paying for IMO

Should not be an original "N" case with 3.50 gears, only Drag-Pack, which this is not. I fear this car will end up in the crusher, and a re-body will be the result.

It does look like a lot of moneyfor what you're getting but in 5 or 10 years you guys may be looking back wishing you had bought this one. It's not been that many years ago I wish I had bought a lot of these old cars but at the time they didn't seem like a good deal.

You can't get into a BOSS any cheaper than this. Would take about 25K depending on how handy you were, to get this thing back on the road, but the BOSS 302 values continue to climb.

I do not believe that the boss cars held much value during the late 70's and through the 80's.
