Bought a 4V motor for 60$!!! LOOK!

man 60 bucks.. hell ya, but im gonna have to agree with some of the fellas, take it to someone who does custom work fix the engine drop it in and DAMN!! volla ! much faster just the same amount you would have spent having you intake custom built to fit the new heads..!

they'd rather swap the engine than fix a blown head gasket? I'm not mechanic but that just doesn't sound like an intelligent use of money.

Its pretty labor intensive to do any kind of head work on a navigator. I have never heard of one blowing a head gasket but they do have cylinder head problems causing loss of compression. Doing an engine swap in one is not cheap by any means either. The mechanic probably didn't want to try and fix it and probably scared them into getting a new engine.

I dont really want the 5.4 block. I am going to use the heads on my 4.6 with a stock 99+ cobra intake and just have me a 4.6 cobra. Like I said though I took it all down tonight and there is alot of sludge on the bottom end, but the naigator belonged to a church group. Also the oil in the bottom end was rust colored so I am not sure on the lower ends condition now. I will sell it though if someone wants a good base for a 5.4 build. I also have the navi wiring harness, intake, TB, injectors, 8 NEW COPs and lots more stuff.

again i'm telling you that you will not be able to use that combination on your 4.6 block. the heads will be too large to allow any cobra intake to even seat on the intake ports. also because of the larger size of the intake ports, you will actually be choking the engine because the intake will have smaller ports that don't match the intake ports on the heads.

here's a pic of a Navigator head gasket sitting on top of a FR500 head. as you can see the intake port of the Navi head is much larger.

as i have said, the cobra intake will not fit on a 4.6 block equipped with Navi heads. here is the pic of such a combo that you're thinking of doing. like i said, the intake won't even fit onto the heads.
