Hi Everyone,

I tried to order some 15" X 8" Weld Racing wheels to hold 28 X 10.5 MT Drag tires and I was told by the tire dealer that there was not enough room to clear the stock brakes. I have a 2000 GT convt. I know I've seen a ton of 99-2004 GTs in the mags with Welds though. Anyone tried it? Did you have to make modifications? Thanks a bunch!!!! :hail2:

The Weld's in 15X8 with 5.5" backspacing fit great, as well as the 15X10 with 6.5" backspacing. You don't need a spacer, etc., to clear the calipers. I ran a 28" tall tire with the 15X10's, and had zero rubbing problems in the wheelwells, also.

Thanks, Jerry! would you recommend the 15x8 or 15X10 wheels with 28X10.5 MT drag tires? I would assume the 15x10s would fit better, but I don't know if you are supposed to go with a tighter fit when using slicks. I've never used them before.

Even though it's the opposite of what you'd do with a street tire, you'd want to go with the 8" wide, rather than the 10's.

Here's a link to a brief description of slicks and sizes, just to give you an idea:
