About 2 weeks ago I posted a brake help thread and asked how to go about bleeding my brakes and checking for leaks. For those who did not read that thread, I have a 66 and everything about the brakes is stock. I inspected the hardlines from the master cylinder and thought that everything was fine. So I began to start bleeding the brakes....while begining to jack the passenger wheel, i noticed that there was something leaking from the brake to the tire of my rear driver wheel. I jacked that side, pulled off my tire.....and now i need to know what to look for and how to get to the brake cylinder to check for cracks or whatever....please help

HELP!

remove the wheel and brake drum. The wheel cylinder is inside.

It is probably leaking out around the pistons on either end of the wheel cylinder, this is quite common. The wheel cylinder is held to the back plate by two bolts. Also dont forget to remove the brake line before removing the two bolts.

A new wheel cylinder is pretty cheap... Probably less than 10 bucks depending on where you shop.

Theres a good chance you will need to do a brake job on the rear end as well. Sometimes if the rear brakes get worn out far enough that the pistons pop out of the wheel cylinder partially causing a leak like you are experiancing...you will know for sure once you get that drum off. Good luck!
