Brake pads...

Have not tried them in my Stang yet, but I'm running the Hawk ceramics on the rear brakes of my Marauder (stock calipers) and they're working well. I had Hawk HPS back there and up front (Wilwood six piston calipers) and they were loud as hell. I mean, seriously, it was embarrassing. I switched to Wilwood BP-10 pads up front and the Hawk ceramics in back and it's been much quieter since. Don't notice much dust at all from the ceramics, where the HPS pads used to produce quite a bit, even for rear brakes.
When it comes time to replace pads in my Stang I will probably give the Hawk Ceramics another go based on this experience.

Akebono's are very good I use them on customers cars all the time have yet to have any problems with them. I think HAWK is an excellent pad however they do have different variations, street track etc.... all have different ceramic formulation that might explain the noise some of you have experienced....remember your rotors must be compatible with your pad choice for optimal stopping power. I find many premium brand ceramics are very low dust.

I run Porterfield R-4S all around. Low dust and noise on the street but provide good stopping for when I do HPDEs. They do dust quite a bit at the track but that doesn't bother me too much.
My daily driver just passed 28K on the odometer, and I can feel slight action under the brake pedal during normal driving. Figure it's time to replace the factory pads even though they've still got material on them.
I read this thread and used the search tool looking to see what the cognocenti are using. I do not race this car, and by Stangnet standards I'm a mild driver, the old girl has never gotten over 90mph and I still have paper air filter (grin). I still have factory rotors and the original skinny tires (Pirelli P-zero passenger-car stuff). I have run ceramics on high performance applications, but those were on rotors designed for them. I don;t want them to squeak and and I don't want them to dust up like my F150s do. Do they make low dust organics? Are semi-metallics okay if I plan on roto' replacement next time around?
So when I head down to Autozone to buy replacements what should I ask for or should I look elsehwere?

Go to Tire Rack's web site and check out Akebono pads. They're OE on a lot of high end cars. Never read a negative comment on them.
