The switch connected to my brake pedal assemble that controls the brake light illumination is not working properly. My brake lights do not come on until the brake pedal is almost fully engaged. How do you remove and replace this switch? It is very hard to see. I can see the electrical connection going to it and thats ablut it.

There's a small red cotter holding the switch onto the shaft...yank that and then you can pull the switch out. Look carefully when you take it out. The U-shaped side will go back on first, with the full O-shaped one on the outside, then the washer, then the cotter. I'd describe it better, but I only know what it looks like upside down :p, and it's been a while anyway.

Most of the switches can be adjusted by bending the metal bracket (you'll have to take it out to see what I mean). They get bent otu fo shape if working aroudn them or an alignment guy putting the bar around the brake pedal, etc. Not unheard of to have to tweak it...a new one will surely have to have the same thing done.
