How many times can you turn the front rotors usually before they need to be replaced? Mine seem to warp easy too and Im not a hard braker.

How do the rotors from the Cobra upgrade kit compare to the GT rotors?

i usually only turn rotors once, twice if there is enough metal on them.

personally i hate turning rotors. if they warped when they were thick, they will warp when they are thinner. also you might want to make sure that someone isnt getting impact gun happy when putting your tires on. if you slam on lugs you can warp a rotor.

also make sure that the hub surface is clean, i always sand them with my angle sander then put on a light coating of syl-glide. i also like to sand all contact points on the spindle.

I was wondering how easy they would warp if the got too thin. I think they got warped when I had my tires rotated. It was a busy Saturday and Im sure they rushed it. I guess free lifetime tire rotation is not such a good deal after all!

Maybe I should go with the Cobra brake upgrade after all assuming they are decent rotors.

The 2000 R front Brembo setup is awesome :nice:

Part# M-2300-X (even the part# sounds cool)

Ford Racing Parts MSRP is $1150 but there are deals...

I work at Advanced Auto and let me just say that 99% of stock rotor are crap. Don't bother turning then either you are just weakening them and wasting your money. IMO upgrade to some slotted rotors (brembo or baer) just make it a reputable company. Also....they will look much better.

I put on a Cobra brake kit about 2 years ago, and the first set of rotors that came with the kit where x-drilled and they warped in about 6 months. I lived with them for a few months (since you can't turn X/D rotors). I then replaced all my rotors with Brembo's not drilled or slotted. That was about 1 year ago and I have not had a problem with warping since.

Or you can get a set of Baer Eradispeed (1 Piece) Rotors that guarantee against warping, but are EXPENSIVE!

I am running Hawk HPS pads in the front and cheap pads in the rear, my HPS pads in the rear were causing problems, but hey so are the cheap ones right now...but that is all stock in the rear for me.

you can get the cobra R kit from buyfordracing for about $900. i got mine for $825 because i opted to not get the slotted rotors, just plain face brembos.

if you think thats bad, go look up how much the Wilwood 6 piston front, 4 piston rear w/ drum parking brake. you are looking at about $4k-5k for brakes alone.
