brakes making a lot of noise !!!!!

My 04' has a touch over 14K miles and about 3K miles ago the brakes started really making a lot of noise. After they heat up, not a grinding or anything, just squeling(sp?) I guess it is time for some new pads? Anyone else have this problem. My 2000GT had almost 40K on her and not one problem with the brakes. Any good suggestions on some nice pads. I am guessing that is all it is, not the rotors or anything else I hope.

There's a couple of things you can do. Sounds simple but when you wash your car, hose off the front calipers real good, keep the dust off.

The second thing is to take the pads off, clean them and the calipers real good and paint the back of them with anti-squeal spray. Paint them good and wait for them to dry. They will be sticky like contact cement. Reinstall everything and the noise should stop.

Make sure all your mounting hardware is good too.

This has worked several times for me on both my cars.

I dont know if this is applicable at all but on my old 85 when Id change the pads Id take a pair of pliers to the squeal indicators (bend em back). I did this because the indicators usually would start squealing way before the pads were toast, and because, being a paranoid mustang freak Id always know how the brakes were in terms of wear anyway.

I plan to do the same in the future with w/e Stang I buy.
