I have a 2004 F-150 and I have been having problems with my brakes. Turns jout I am not the only one haveing this trouble, as outlined in the F-150 forums.

My question is will the brakes on the 2005 Mustang be made of the same material as the trucks? I wasnt going to by the Mustang for a little while longer, but if the brakes are any better on the Mustang, it may be time to trade.

Thanks for any help.

Well the brakes in the '05 Mustang are pretty big, which is nice. 12.4" diameter in front. I wouldn't expect many problems... of course time will tell. The truth is, any car can develop brake problems, and many cars can be very persistant about it. Unfortunately, both the rotors and the pads are wear items, and the rotors don't always wear evenly. Sometimes the rotors will warp, or form uneven deposits in the metal, in either case you'll get the dreaded steering wheel shimmy during braking. In a lot of cases, simply getting the rotors turned and switching to better brake pads can solve the problem. Ceramic pads are easy on the rotors, or if you're more concerned with performance I've heard good things about Hawk HPS pads. Either choice would be better than stock pads.

Without going into too much depth, I wouldn't trade in your truck just because of the brake problem... but if you're just looking for a change, the Mustang would be a good choice. :nice:
