Braking problem - 65 Mustang

First, Problem - Car pulls to the left when braking. This showed up after getting the car aligned.

Second, Things we have tried in order - idler arm, new calipers, new master cylinder, cleaned out proportioning valve, swapped rotors & pads side-to-side.

This is a 65 Mustang coupe with approx 1976 granada front spindles/brakes.

We cannot figure out why this thing continues to pull. It even pulls after swapping the rotors & pads from one side to the other. Still pulls to the left. Any ideas would be appreciated, thank you.

--Going to try to swap out proportioning valve tomorrow.

I don't think the proportioning valve will buy you anything, as it control front to rear. Are your rear shoes adjusted equally, side to side? Does the steering wheel actually turn when braking or does the car just drift off to the left?

I'd also try swapping tires front to back, if your tire size will allow that.

Good luck.

The rear should be pretty equal, and the rear shoes will not make the kind of pull I am experiencing... it actually turns the wheel. The proportioning valve does have some control over the front brakes as it proportions the front & the back, and has 2 ouputs for the front brakes ( 1 for left 1 for right ).

once go through all that, and still find the car pulling to the left while braking, replace the lower control arm on that side. likely the bushing is shot and is allowing the arm to move back and forth.
