I'm not quite ready to buy tires (only 7500 mi), but was curious if anyone has fitted wider tires to their stock brembo wheels (19x9)? The stock tire is a 255/40R19, I was looking at a 285/35R19.

I have 285-35-19 Bridgestone RE-11's on the stock Brembo wheels. They are wide, but I don't think too wide. They look great.

They are considered an extreme summer performance tire and are 100% geared towards dry grip and really nothing else. I was expecting to only get 10K out of them, but I am pleasantly surprised to tell you I now have 16000 miles and still have 6/32 left (originally came with 9/32). I don't punish my tires, though. No burn outs. Extreme corning is very limited. I will buy them again, I think.

Nice. I might take a look at them. How do they compare against the OEM Pirellis?

I only had the Pirelli's for maybe 200 miles. So I can't really compare the two.

No... lol. I worked for Bridgestone at the time and they swapped the tires for free.

Do you have 285s on all 4 corners? I was going to go with 275s on all 4 corners, but this looks pretty nice!

Nice looking car PoopDawg. OP, if you don't want to go that wide, I run the 275/35 Nitto's on my stock brembo wheels. Like others have said, no fitment issues at all.

Are there any longer-term problems associated with running wider-than-recommended tires on the car? Besides price of the tires of course.

That looks great...Would you say it now handles better than 255?

Also, would it be better to run 285/35 for autocross/road racing events, or stick to the stock 255, considering the tires are the same?

Like said before, I only ran the OE tires for a couple hundred miles. I couldn't really tell you the difference. I don't race the car really, or corner to the limits.... Too much to lose, and I'm not a race car driver. But I can say the car handles superbly. These tires are really only dry weather only... the wet weather performance is pretty bad.

The 285's look really good! Too bad I just bought tires(Bridgestone Potenza RE970 A/S). They've got 40K mile treadwear warranty, so I guess I'll have to wait awhile. But I may consider going the 285 route when I do, I like the look!

Did they have any difficulty installing the tire onto the rim? Did it mess with your speedometer at all?? Just wondering, looking at the same size range, don't want anything that they cannot install onto the rim without damage.

At the time, I was working at a shop. I installed them myself. They are wide, but not "difficult" to install.

They are shorter then the OE Pirellis, so your speedo will read a little fast. I corrected this with my tune. But it's really minute. Like 3-4 MPH at 70.

I know with at least the F-150 that ford could input the tire size into the computer and it would be able to change the speed readout. Not sure if they could do that with all of the current vehicles. I was looking at the recommended tire width and it is 10" for a 285 series tire, a 9" would fit it says. Just don't want to spend $1000+ on a set of tires for them to tell me they cannot put them on, Thanks for the feed back. How many miles do you have on the Bridgestone's now? any abnormal wear??

I have almost 17000 on them. No abnormal wear. I rotate every 5K miles and check the alignment every rotation. The tires are wearing perfectly even.

What tire pressures are you running? And where are you located? Curious if the stickier rubbed helped with the axle hop at all

Running 35PSI like the door suggests. I'm in FL, where I don't have to worry about winter weather.

And as far as wheelhop, I've never had any problem with that. I don't know if these tires are the reason why, but my car either spins or sticks. You can check my video thread in the Talk section... There is a small 1st and 2nd gear burnout... Well not really a burn out... just take a look. No wheel hop.
