ok i was removing the stock crank pulley so i could install my 10% od pulley

i was using the crank puller to remove the old one sprayed a little wd40 on there started to remove the pulley its a little tight as i turn the puller i hear a loud popping sound the fcking crank pulley broke off

there is part of the stock pulley still on the crank and the stock pulley minus the middle section comes off .. i am like fck just the kind of luck i have

funny thing is the crank bolt came off with out a problem

so now how the hell do i get the rest of the pulley off with out damaging my crank

hmm i will need to by a torch then..

so i would have to melt the puller bolts onto the remains of the pulley and then try pulling it .... is that what your talking about

i will take a picture to show you what happen ..

No, I don't mean weld the bolts on, I mean you can get gear pullers that have tabs to grab from the back edge of a gear to pull it off, they're designed to get cam gears off and stuff like that... heating what's left of the pulley would help you get it off by expanding it to reduce the friction on the end of the crank.

i see i will see if i can find some maybe advance auto, napa or pepboys best we have over here in maryland i need to get this car back together or close to it before sat. i dont get another day off till next thursday..

thxs for the advice

How the hell did that happen? Did you use one of those crank pullers that "hook" onto the crank? Just wondering. Pearl02.

Dude that sucks, have u tried drilling new holes into it? Maybe try and drill new holes into it then get a flat peice of metel that like 3/8 - 1/2 inch thick and match the holes up and drill a center hole where the center is. Tap all 4 holes and start over with your new custom made crank puller

Good luck!

yea man this is crazy i cant get this fcker off...

yea i am hot rigth about now with this i have tryed using a torch on it,wd40 i cant keep tring to pry on it i dont want to warp or damage the crank.....only other thing i can think of is to remove the timing cover but thats going to be a pain in the azz..

I bet a dollar to a doughnut that when you took the bolt out, the heavy duty washer that goes with that bolt stayed behind in the center of the damper. That would cause what you've done here: you're not actually pushing the crank snout and pulling the damper assembly to get it off, you're pushing on the center hub of the damper and pulling on its outer hub.

In other words, you tore the damper into two pieces because that washer was blocking the end of the crank snout. Ask me how I know this .

In my case, I did it on a 5.0 and destroyed the puller itself, because the damper didn't give but the puller sure as hell did.

The timing cover isn't coming off with that in the way unless you break it in half or you can break off enough of the remaining damper to pass through the front seal bore...

You're probably going to have to replace the front seal anyway after the heating and whatnot.

Sorry dude. Thats gotta suck. I know you are limited with your time and all but if it were mine I would grind down what's in the way and take the front cover off so I could use a 3-jaw puller or split it with a dremel. If you don't take the cover off, there is still a half inch minimum you won't be able to get to. If you do cut it, cut it in line with the key so you don't booger up the snout.

Now if you are a lucky SOB you may be able to grind the back of whats left of the three ears square on the back and get the 3 jaw puller on those. Unfortunately they don't like to grab round surfaces.

And don't drink any beer. I know it is tempting but STAY AWAY!:nono:

fcking a dude i got the fcker off

at about 5pm hehe i got it off by drilling two holes into the pulley or what remains of the pulley and it cracked

bad side is i scratched the crank up

so i clean up all around the crank and installed the 10% od pulley it was a b*tch to get on started the car up with out the intake on and i looked at the crankpulley its not wobbling so thats a good think

its dark now so i will call it a night and jump back on it once i get off work on sat....
