After finding out that my daily driver Ranger's tranny went out, I knew I'd have to start driving the GT for a while again. So, I was checking all the fluids an pulled the oil dipstick out and noticed that the tip was gone. Right at the first hole(minimum mark/about 1 inch plus). I freaked. Called a buddy who had raced cars and stuff for years. He said it wouldn't hurt anything, happened to him all the time. I didn't know if it had been that way for long or not, but I went ahead and put a huge magnet on the oil pan and drove it. No problems so far(fingers crossed). I hope it come out on the next oil change about 1000 miles from now.

It's made of steel and should fall directly to the bottom of the oil pan.If it don't come out with the oil at the next change, you might try washing it out with a big slug of diesel fuel. But it will always go to the lowest place in the pan so it still might not come out.See if you can find a magnetic drain plug,or make your own.
