Okie, fellow Mustang'ers, this is my first post here on the StangNet.:SNSign:

Back in Summer of 2006, my car was broken into and the thieves got off with my stereo and remote. As part of the police investigation, they took my dash for fingerprinting. I called a while back inquiring into the case and they basically told me that "it stinks but it's the law" meaning it may heck freezing over before I get my dash panel back.

The dash panel I refer to is the center panel that includes the A/C vents and such that covers the radio area all the way down to the cigarette lighter panel. It is this panel that the police took. I've searched high and low across the net and across central AR with no luck. I have since bought a replacement panel directly from Ford however the "toggle switches" for Rear Defrost, Traction Control just flop around with nothing securing them. Ford has basically told me that I'm just sol and despite the fact I'm a regular customer they have no interest in helping me with this matter.

I have a 2001 v6 Mustang with the Mach sound system.

Any tips, advice, links to replacement parts would be greatly appreciated.

I've never heard of a car company not ordering a part for a customer before, that's weird. Have you tried any wrecking yards for a used one?

Try another dealer. You'll find someone who would be willing to tell you why your switches aren't secured.

Thanks guys. I've tried checking wreckyards around here but most of the Mustangs that I have found that are 01-04 have been gutted on the inside to the point there's like no usable dash pieces. It isn't that the parts wouldn't order the part, it's the fact they don't know what the part looks like even with their visual parts database and last time I was there the guy wasted 30 mins of my time putting me on hold. The other dealership in the area tried charging me close to $550 for a $280 job.
