BUDGET 5 LUG SWAP

Just bought a set of 17inch Bullets for my GT. Its a 93, so I'm looking for suggestions here. I have a 9inch housing waiting to be jigged up, but wont be able to afford my discs, axles, etc. for awhile. So, whats the cheapest, but most reliable way to swap the rear axles on the 8.8? I've heard something about Ranger axles and drums? On the front spindles, I've heard several diffrent routes. Whatever I do up front will stay up front. Any suggestions?

Two right side rear axle shafts and drums from Ford Rangers for the rear upgrade,and front rotors from a Mark VII.Now you have a 5 lug car.

If I remember correctly, the snout will pertrude through the center cap area. Somebody will chime in but I believe you need to use sn95 spindles for the bullitts.

Yes th mark VII rotors with not work with factory 17's (cobras, bullits, ect...), They'll fit, but you wont be able too run the center caps on them. You'll need too get the spindle assembly from and sn95 car too make them work right. (just a note, the 99-04 cars came with dual piston calipers)

As far as the rear axles go, you can use 2 drivers side axles from ford rangers, 2 passanger side ford aerostar mini van axles, or if it's an all wheel drive aerostar minivan you'll use both drives and passanger axles. You can also use the axles from the 94-96 GT or V6 (same axlse in the V6 as a 8.8 ones) or Mark VII axles and have disc brakes on it.

I got my 5 lug from a junk yard for $250. It included, 98 sn95 front assembly:rotors,spindle,and caliper. The rear was 2 driver side axles from a 4 cyl Ranger, plus rear drums. If you are on the cheap you will need to find an adapter for the brake lines for the front. Sn95 different than Fox. Maximum Motorsports sells a Stainless Steel line that has the adapter for $80 thats what I did.I went to the extra expense of coil overs and slotted rotors. You should look for 94 95 spindles the 98 and up will be a little wider and stick out past the fender....

Ok, so I'll grab up a couple driver side ranger axles and the matching drums. On the sn95 (spindles, calipers etc) is there any pros/cons to a certain year? I realize that I dont want the spindle out past the fender, so 94 or 95?

94 & 95 are the same. Anything newer will stick out.

does any one know if you can use the axles from a mazda b2200, isnt it the same as a ranger?

The B2200 is not the same as the Rangers. They were different until 94, then Mazda got the B2300 (named for the Ford 2.3 liter 4 cyl engine) clone of the Ranger.

Matt's brake website, http://sn95brakes.com, recommends 83-92 Ranger drivers axles or 86-97 Aerostar passenger axles. From looking at the compatable axles on www.car-part.com , (they use the interchange manual to cross reference all parts that are the same) the 83-93 Ranger axles are not the same as the 94-current axles in the Rangers and Mazdas. So I'd stick with the recommended years and models to be safe.
